We are looking for an ambitious, organized, and motivated Software Verification & Validation Designer. The ideal candidate will have a technical background, with a team playing mindset. Ultimately, you are motivated by the desire to deliver great results to your current and potential stakeholders in a predictable and controlled manner while having some fun on the way. We are an experienced team with diverse backgrounds that look forward to your contribution to our palette of competencies.

Alstom’s Digital and Integrated Systems is a world leader in developing, engineering, and installing rail control and signalling safety systems, products, and services. D&IS enables the safe and efficient operation of rail networks and trains.

As Software Verification & Validation Designer you will be part of an experienced and engaged team working with the development of railway signalling systems.

The main responsibility in the role is to participate in software development by ensuring that the software artefacts comply with their specification and that the overall software is fit for its intended use in its intended environment.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Contribute to the definition of the Software Verification and Validation (V&V) strategy in the Software V&V Plan, and act proactively for its implementation.
  • Define analysis and testing methodology for selected deliverables.
  • Define software functional test descriptions from input requirements (i.e., in black box) or from design and source code (i.e., in white box) covering equivalence classes and/or boundary values.
  • Implement test descriptions in test procedures and test scripts and execute and report them.
  • Ensure verifiability of requirements and traceability from tests to requirements
  • Perform and report allocated analysis activities (specification, architecture, design and test analysis, code reviews…)
  • Verify configuration of development tools (compilers, coding rules verifiers, static analysers…)
  • Ensure the highest level of automation of the analysis and test activities.
  • Manage configuration and change management cycle related with V&V activities (test scripts, configuration files, defect tracking, etc.);
  • Provide valuable feedback for Return of Experience (REX) sessions and continuous improvement.

Working with Alstom will give you a unique possibility to gain in-depth knowledge of the technical aspect of our business. This is a company where you can make a career and development opportunities are part of our company culture.

All about you:

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • University degree in engineering.
  • 3-5 years’ work experience of Software Verification & Validation
  • Knowledge of railway signalling and railway signalling systems is preferred.
  • Understanding of processes for the safety critical system e.g. requirement handling, document handling and the generic application development process.
  • Fluency in English is a must.

The position is placed in a security class, and we will carry out a security check, according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act, with a record check before a decision on employment.

As the employment for this position is placed in a security class, Swedish or EU citizenship is a condition for the position.

Things you’ll enjoy:

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.
