Thesis Topic

The thesis will focus on Computer Vision technologies applied to industrial and transportation use cases. The student will:

1. Conduct a technology survey to identify the best computer vision technologies for different use cases and pain points in the rail industry.
2. Evaluate existing solutions at Alstom, analyzing their strengths, limitations, and alignment with current needs.
3. Develop a proof of concept (PoC) to demonstrate the feasibility and potential impact of the selected technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform a comprehensive literature review and market analysis of computer vision technologies.
• Map technologies to specific use cases and operational challenges.
• Benchmark existing Alstom solutions against industry standards.
• Design and implement a PoC using selected tools and frameworks.
• Document findings and prepare the final thesis report.
• Present progress and results to the innovation team.

Profile

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of computer vision concepts and frameworks.
• Familiarity with image processing, deep learning, and evaluation metrics.
• Self-driven and proactive, able to work independently and take initiative in an innovation-oriented environment.
• Analytical mindset and ability to synthesize complex information.
• Good communication skills in English. Swedish is a plus but not compulsory
