Time of the mission:

Key responsibilities:

You will join the Digital & Integrated Systems (D&IS) product line as a Master Thesis student (future RAM Engineer) and will be part of the Alstom D&IS RAM team in the Nordics region. You will contribute to the design and the improvement of the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Testability performance of the new Alstom modern railway signaling solutions to be used in mainlines applications.


Your objective is to implement a robust process to monitor the RAM performance and to continuously support the Reliability Growth on the ERTMS projects in Sweden. You will use the feedback data collected by Alstom from the field and will be responsible for:


  • Acting as a liaison between the various key stakeholders (Project Manager, RAM Community, Engineering team, Maintenance and services, Customers, etc.) to address all the requirements and treat the inputs to drive the key RAM performance metrics
  • Streamlining and implementing the Alstom standard Project RAM Monitoring & Reliability Growth process to issue the monthly performance reports
  • Identifying the relevant sources of data and their scope of applicability
  • Defining the relevant performance indicators and implementing the workflow to report them from end-to-end
  • Automatizing the specific system & products performance indicators, as well as the maintenance & support ones to deliver the required inputs to the operational functions (Services, Engineering, Project teams)
  • Supporting the failure root cause investigations
  • Actively participating to the regular failure review meetings internally and with the customer
  • Supporting operational and analytics needs using relevant scientific methods (e.g., reliability theory, probabilistic and statistical models, data science, model-based approaches, simulation, etc.) to solve specific and complex problematics and drive informed decisions
  • Participating in the improvement of the RAM Métier in Alstom through this mission
  • Reporting regularly to the identified key stakeholders on the progress of your work and results obtained
  • Taking personal accountability for the issue of the deliverables and the committed timelines

Who you are:

  • Engineering student with Coursework or certificate in Reliability/Dependability
  • Strong interest in data processing & log analysis
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language among: Python, Matlab, R, or Visual Basic
  • Interest in the railway sector and ERTMS system
  • Organized, flexible, rigorous, team player and proactive behavior
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, Swedish is an added value
