Join us as Vehicle Designer, and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in St-Bruno,Quebec.


As a Vehicle Designer, you will be responsible for ROS Product Family (PF) deliverables in terms of vehicle concepts and layouts of installed equipment. Concept design development should be based on maximizing existing build blocks and following global processes and standards. Information will be supplied by the Vehicle Architect, Industrial Designers, System Engineers and suppliers according to project requirements and milestones.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Develop conceptual vehicle design (Digital Mockup) to satisfy the technical requirements identified by Vehicle Architects, Industrial Designers and customer in terms of vehicle physical layouts and of the installed equipment. Satisfaction arguments to be created in DOORS, with the concept design compliant with global BT processes and the respective railway standards;
  • To fully develop the vehicle physical concepts and then hand over to VPI Zone Leaders, having been validated by the PF Head of Vehicle Physical Integration. Identify new ideas in order to meet the design requirements considering static and dynamic cases for ‘design to cost and design for manufacturing’ and tolerancing. In addition, lessons learnt from past projects;
  • Prepare Design Reviews (internal  + external):

*Explain the concept with verification of the functional requirements and the feasibility of production-requirements;

*Verification that the concept is consistent with the design, railway, customer, building block requirements;

*Follow up open Design Reviews items;

  • Validation of the 3D-models drawn up by the designers to ensure compliance with the concept requirements;
  • Preparation of technical documentation for discussions with customer and suppliers, guarantee the necessary support to the Product Family;
  • Assure compliance with Change Management and Requirement Management processes.


Key requirements:                                  

  • You preferably have a master’s Degree in Engineering or the equivalent experience;
  • You have four (4) to six (6) years of experience in vehicle concept integration design, min 3 years of functional work experience;
  • Vehicle Integration, material selection, tolerancing, Design for Manufacture & Assembly;
  • Detailed knowledge of Catia V5, PDM system;
  • Excellent English and French communication skills, advanced both written and spoken.
