Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Hardware Developer to join our Engineering team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be involved in the design, development, verification, and validation of electronic hardware solutions for railway safety-critical systems, contributing to high-performance, reliable, and compliant products throughout the full product lifecycle.

Main activities:

  • Design and develop analog and digital electronic boards for embedded railway systems
  • Design and implement the FW/SW necessary for HW component tests – or specifies the software to be developed by the FW/SW designer;
  • Define hardware architecture and select electronic components 
  • Create and review schematics, BOMs, and hardware technical documentation
  • Support PCB layout activities in collaboration with layout engineers
  • Execute and support hardware verification and validation activities (functional, environmental, EMC tests)
  • Contribute to safety and reliability analyses in compliance with railway standards
  • Support industrialization, production issues, and field troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with Firmware, System Engineering, RAMS, V&V, Quality, and Industrial teams

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering

Competencies & Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of analog and digital electronics
  • Experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of communication buses (e.g. CAN, SPI, I²C, MVB, Ethernet)
  • Knowledge of international regulations (EN50155; EN45545, EN50467, MIL-HDBK 217F, IEC62380 and IEC61709) 
  • Knowledge VHDL and C code;
  • Experience in PLD/FPGA (Altera-Lattice) programming
  • Experience in designing microprocessor boards
  • Familiarity with hardware design tools (e.g. Altium, OrCAD or equivalent)
  • Basic knowledge of railway or safety-critical standards (e.g. EN 50126 / 50128 / 50129) is a plus
  • Ability to produce clear and structured technical documentation
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary and international teams
