Job Title (Job Code):        Battery  Product Manager (SM-MK-01  TBD ?)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Owner of the development Strategy of the for the Product range in responsibility
  • Ensure that product range in responsibility are available for sale and delivery within agreed performance, technical risk and cost that continually support the required growth, profitability and quality objectives of the Company.
  • Define, manage and develop the Products Roadmap for the complete product range in responsibility.
  • The Product Manager is owner and has responsibility for cost ownership of the products in his segment
  • Lead and coordinate the activities involving the Teams on sites to support the product roadmap (R&D, Sustaining and Competitiveness, support and implementation of the procurement and Industrial strategy), competition and market survey, feedback from the operations and Projects.
  • Follow and ensure the performances – including competitiveness - of the product at all phases from the development phase to the project execution and service operations.
  • In pre-tendering phase, confirm the Product Solution in cooperation with the Traction Team, support the tender, and participate to the tender validation.
  • Main interface of the RS Platform for the Products in responsibility.
  • Technical referent for battery components and subsystems

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES  

  • Coordinate the products roadmap in line with the defined targets at Component level for the products or segments in responsibility on every aspect (performances, competitiveness, engineering BCC, procurement and industrial BCC)
  • Ensure the competitiveness of product portfolio in terms of technology and costs
  • Ensure the validation and homologation of the product, and maintain it through the evolution the norms and standard regulations regarding their markets
  • Observe the market to identify portfolio/technology gaps and derive the right actions
  • Ensure a close link with the RS Platform to align product strategies for the Platform or segments in responsibility
  • Confirm the product definition for all tenders and application including the product variability and gaps including final tender validation
  • Support Project to keep the product strategy accordingly to tender definition in the starting phase
  • Manage, coordinate and maintain the collaboration within the teams involved on product development in development sites and support sites (engineering, industrial, procurement, tender and costing)
  • Manage and ensure that all product documentation and definition is up to date.
  • PAB &  PRB Management for new R&D programs
  • Owner of battery components and subsystems design, validation and certification guidelines and promote their application across ALSTOM
  • Alstom representative in standard committees and academics for battery components and subsystems 
  • Project support for battery components and subsystems problem solving and risk management

 

 

 MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES

Educational Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Master of engineering or equivalent from Educational degree, completed with experience
  • Business fluent in English language

Desirable:

  • Specific educational degree in battery design

Experience

Mandatory:

  • Strong knowledge in battery components and subsystems  
  • Experience in Engineering or Sub-System management > 5 years

 

  • Specific knowledge in traction/vehicle design to understand the ‘big picture’
  •  

Desirable:

  • Global understanding of overall internal processes (Tenders, Projects, Engineering, Industrial, Supplier)
  • Knowledge on Traction  and  Motor design and technology
  • Knowledge of heavy duty standards and constraints
  •  

Competencies & Skills

  • Ability to work in multi-skills and multi-cultural context
  • Leader for its domain or experience in leading teams in matricial organization
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to convince, to be solution oriented, to challenge and to be challenged
