- Allocate requirements to the various subsystems and develop transversal requirements in collaboration with domain specialists.
- Define the train system architecture, operating modes, and associated functionalities.
- Ensure consistency and compatibility among all subsystem specifications.
- Prepare subsystem specifications and, when required, the architectural description in line with the overall system architecture.
Product Management and Catalogue Interface
- Complete the “Entry connector” to query the standard product catalogue.
- For non-catalogue products, in coordination with the central standardization body:
- Draft the preliminary technical specification during the bid phase.
- Prepare the final technical specification for supplier consultation and manage technical interactions until design freeze.
- Lead the technical relationship with suppliers, monitoring commitments on cost, schedule, quality, risks, and validation activities.
- Participate in technical Design Reviews.
Project Support
- Support the TPM (Technical Project Manager) in defining the applicable train configuration.
- Coordinate interfaces, performance aspects, and technical issue resolution among the different engineering teams during the detailed design phase.
- Participate in technical meetings with the customer upon request from project management.
Required Technical Skills
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and functional schematics.
- Familiarity with technical procurement processes and supplier management.
- Very good written and spoken English proficiency.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Familiarity with railway mechanical systems.
- Experience in System Engineering and Requirements Management (DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of railway standards (EN, IEC, RAMS regulations, safety standards).
- Expertise in system architectures and subsystem interface management.
Soft Skills
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong problem-solving orientation.
- Methodical mindset, attention to traceability, and rigorous technical documentation management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactivity and decision-making autonomy.
