PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT

 

Assist the Project manager in coordinating a number of tasks within a project of appropriate sizes and complexities, although at times you may be required to assist in the delivery of discrete sections of a project

POSITION OVERVIEW

Provide assistance to the Project Manager, co-ordinating a number of tasks within the project to support the completion of planned works to budget, safely and within set timescales, whilst maintaining a high standard in all areas in accordance with Alstom Policies & Procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Project Manager on the status of planned project items.
  • To ensure tasks are completed in line with Alstom standards and policies.
  • Ensure tasks are completed to Alstom EHS procedures.
  • Support the management of people, time, plant, materials, & sub-contractors in line with the Project Execution Plan and programme.
  • Maintain supplier relations in line with the Alstom Supply Chain Management Policy.
  • Communicate programme requirements to staff.
  • Draft written reports, e. g. accident investigation, periodic progress reports.
  • Carry out Document Control activities as required to support the works.
  • Assist in the management of internal interfaces with Testing, Design & Installation etc.
  • Support the Project Manager with the input of Project risks in line the Alstom Risk Management System.
  • It may be required that some travel and shift pattern changes will be necessary to fully perform some of your duties/activities.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Ensure the Alstom Site Management Policy is adhered to.
  • Report to the Project Team on the compliance with Alstom Standards & Policies.
  • Demonstrate to the Project Team that all works are in compliance with Alstom EHS policies.
  • Targeted deliverables taken from Project Management Plan and programme.
  • Report to the Project Team the status with the project material program.
  • Issuing of the Work Package Plans.
  • Support the production of accurate reports and ensure feedback to Project Team and Alstom supply chain management staff and to be able to input into Reporting Injuries, Diseases & Dangerous Occurrences Regulation Reports.
  • Demonstrate the Project is being executed in line with the Alstom Project Management Policy documents.
  • Fully minute and document all meetings in line with Alstom Project Management procedure.

Essential requirements for the position of Project Management Assistant are as follows:-

  • Understanding of the planning process.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental requirements.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Design & Testing.
  • Understanding of management systems.
  • Understanding of quantified risk assessments.
  • Strong IT skills in MS Office suite, along with excellent communication skills.
  • HND / Degree in an engineering or management discipline or equivalent experience in industry.
  • Ability to travel within UK.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends and Bank Holidays to support delivery of the project.

Desirable attributes may include:

  • Leadership, people management and communication qualities.
  • Demonstrable skills & experience that would enhance the delivery of the project to high standard, safely and on time, within budget.
  • Completed applicable H&S and environmental courses.
  • Professional Project Management Training APM
  • Railway experience
