The Test Manager is the operational manager of all vehicle-related activities, especially during the validation and authorization phases within a vehicle project, and at the same time the on-site representative of the Train Validation Engineer, who has overall responsibility and defines the strategy during these phases. The Test Manager must have extensive railway engineering knowledge and specific vehicle knowledge to carry out the activities. His tasks also include coordination with all parties involved in the activities, e.g. external test laboratories, infrastructure managers, customers, suppliers, etc.

 

Tasks

  • Representative of the Train Validation Engineer for all validation and authorization activities from an operational point of view.

  • Responsible for the daily planning and on-time execution of tests on the validation vehicles.

  • Interface between project, test laboratories, infrastructure managers, etc.

  • Determining the actual test capability of a (validation) train for the upcoming activities, together with a Train Manager.

  • Prioritisation in case of conflicts between test activities.

  • Determination and monitoring of the actual configuration of the (validation) train (hardware, electrical, software).

  • Supporting the internal and external staff involved in the activity.

  • Responsible for compliance with all ALSTOM safety standards including briefing/instruction of staff involved in the activity.

  • Responsible for the recording of vehicle related events and appropriate communication to the responsible staff (Train Validation Engineer, Train System Engineer, Testing & Commissioning, etc.).

  • If required, support in troubleshooting or repair of the (validation) train.

  • Independent planning of own resources, coordination of priorities with the projects involved.

 

Profil

  • Successfully completed (technical) university education as an engineer (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, IT or similar) or technician incl. several years of professional experience

  • Several years of experience in the field of vehicle testing or validation

  • Experience in the use of test infrastructures (Wegberg-Wildenrath, VUZ, public infrastructure, etc.)

  • Practical experience in the field of railway operations

  • Knowledge of the systems in the train and, in the best case, experience in the repair/maintenance of trains or components

  • High sense of responsibility

  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English

  • Independent as well as customer- and goal-oriented and safety-oriented way of working

  • Commitment, initiative, and ability to work in a team

  • Very good communication skills, negotiation skills, high willingness to travel
