 As a RAMS Engineer Bogie, you are a member of a team whose expertise is highly valued by Alstom and our customers. You ensure that our complex and innovative transport systems can be operated efficient, safe and reliable every day. The role of a RAMS Engineer Bogie is interdisciplinary and transversal by essence. You work on a project from the tender phase to its delivery, while partnering with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

 

You will report to the head of the RAMS department and your responsibilities include:

  • Creation of safety analyzes and proofs of safety for bogies of rail vehicles and their components
  • Participation in the creation of risk and hazard analyses
  • Investigations and evaluations of the reliability for bogies of rail vehicles and their components
  • Execution of reliability studies
  • Analysis of / participation in the creation of FMEAs
  • Creation, coordination, and execution of work packages considering the QCD targets of the projects
  • Monitoring of compliance with guidelines for functional safety in the development process of rail vehicles through to approval
  • Ensuring compliance with the Group's RAMS guidelines, as well as normative and legal requirements
  • Cross-departmental and cross-site cooperation with the areas of system engineering, design, electromechanical integration, verification, validation, quality assurance and homologation as well as maintenance/service
  • Participation in analyzes of the availability and maintainability for bogies of rail vehicles and their components
  • Participation in determining the life cycle costs (LCC calculation and forecasts)
  • Participation in offers for vehicles and their bogies, respectively, optimization of bogie concepts, requirements and specifications for bogies, assemblies, and components
  • Later also the subject-specific management of projects within the product platforms throughout the project phases from the offer to approval and to the acceptance of contractual defined targets, respectively

 

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree at a university (master) or college (bachelor) with a focus on rail vehicle design, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering as well as several years of professional experience in the field of railway industry (or automotive, aerospace) with specialist knowledge in the field of RAMS
  • Good knowledge in the areas of electrical engineering and machine elements and ideally already system knowledge of bogies in rail vehicle industry
  • Good knowledge of functional safety and reliability theories
  • Experience in the field of data and statistics
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the relevant standards (e.g., EN 50126, EN 61508), rules, regulations, and ordinances (e.g., CSM-regulation 402/2013, TSI LOC&PAS)
  • Distinctive analytical and conceptual skills, structured and independent way of working
  • Mastery of subject-specific IT applications (e.g., for carrying out FMECA and FTA), as well as MS Office
  • Excellent team and communication skills
  • High social and methodological skills
  • Fluent in English and German
