You manage the relationship and contract with key strategic provider(s) and you drive transformation initiatives :

  • Lead the governance established between Alstom and the transportation service provider
  • Maintain and sustain the Transportation performance scorecard both in terms of the quality of the services and costs
  • Supports strategic programs, projects and network studies for the Transportation organization to achieve AT operational objectives
  • Drive consistency in process, systems & data across AT Sites
  • Facilitates communication towards internal and external stakeholders

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

You maintain the Transportation Performance management system for the scope under your responsibility

  • Implement and maintain standard KPIs (on-time pickup and delivery, transport optimisation ratio, cost per kg per shipment…);
  • Understand reporting needs and design reports that provide stakeholders with accurate measurements of their business drivers
  • Design robust data collection system (from AT systems and/ or external parties); maintain data repository
  • Ensure timely and accurate update of performance dashboard and reports
  • Monitor cost performance vs Budget; identify cost drivers, analyse deviations and propose action plans
  • Contribute in design and continuous improvement of Transportation metrics

You play the role of vendor manager for critical Transportation service provider(s)

  • Be Vendor Manager for 3PLs for your scope: monitor purchase orders and compliance of invoices, run regular performance and quality reviews (monthly, quarterly, ad-hoc)
  • Be second escalation point for operational issues raised by Alstom Sites
  • Ensures that communication channels are in place for a smooth process between Alstom and the service provider(s)
  • Drive continuous improvements initiatives and network studies with control towers and transportation provider(s) in order to optimize shipments as well as containers utilisation
  • Support 3PL in the maintenance of Master Data and set up of the Transportation Management system (new suppliers, sites, lanes, …)
  • Run root cause analysis and corrective actions for any operational or system issues generating manual interventions in the transport management system
  • Monitor the business case and achievement of objectives

You drive consistency in process mapping, systems & data across Sites

  • Drive process analysis for harmonisation across sites and across functions (supply chain, indirect procurement, finance...)
  • Identify best practices with regards to performance and process efficiency
  • Support deployment of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) across sites and monitor the compliance
  • Monitor 3PL compliance with established price grids, measure extra-charges and STR (Special Transport Requests)

You facilitate the continuous improvement and transformation of the Transportation organization

  • Analyse performance, identify opportunities for improvement and propose corrective actions or improvement plans
  • Run studies aimed at improving Alstom transportation performance, decreasing total cost and delivery lead times.
  • Identify opportunities for transportation consolidation, size associated savings
  • Support preparation of GSC Monthly Performance Review and Quarterly Business Reviews with 3PL partners.
  • Be a facilitator for Operational Excellence and Lean leadership applied in the domain of Transportation; occasionally lead Problem-solving or Kaizen events

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

Mandatory

  • Engineering degree / Business degree / University degree or similar in international transport or supply chain field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in international environment
  • Validated experiences in logistics, 3PL management, import and export procedures
  • Good knowledge of customs regulations and procedures

Desirable

  • Knowledge of modern principles for efficient transportation management and distribution control
  • SAP knowledge
