I. Purpose of the job:

The Train Performance Manager is responsible for ensuring train performance fulfils market / customer and regulatory requirements, in compliance with QCD objectives. Being the main focal point within the platform team for train performance topics, managing train level performance requirements & specifications, system architecture definitions and allocation of requirements to the Sub-System level.

IV. ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES

Key accountabilities:

  • Act as main technical focal point for train performance topics within the platform, supporting development of technical strategy, system architecture development/definition/performance (traction, braking, Cyber Security, noise, thermal comfort etc)
  • Ensure conversion of market / customer and regulatory requirements into train level requirements & specifications (including Service requirements)
    • Collect and analyse customer needs and requirements
    • Perform operational analysis
    • Develop a consistent set of train level requirements & specifications, complying with Alstom internal standards
    • Perform functional analysis, specification, and architecture development in collaboration with Sub-systems Groups, esp. C&IS
  • Train Reliability, Train Logistic Support Analysis (LSA), cybersecurity, validation and Engineering contribution to certification and authorisation
  • Derive requirements & specifications at Subsystem level (including Services requirements)
    • Functional interfaces (as complementary to Mechanical interface = Train Architecture)
    • Allocate requirements and specifications (including transverse requirements) to Sub-Systems
    • Ensure consistency and compatibility between all Sub-System specifications
    • Review / confirm Sub-System architecture, support the Chief Engineer with technical arbitration and technical risk mitigation planning
      • Support Sub-System developments and verify along product design life cycle convergence toward requirements and specifications compliance
    • Ensure Reliability activities and report on the reliability risk management
    • Ensure Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) activities
    • In case of maintenance option, ensure that TCO is being optimised
    • Ensure Train verification and validation
      • Define and perform all verification activities relevant for the product
      • Define, organise, and execute Train level validation, using Trainlab when relevant.
      • Defines Train validation strategy & management plan
      • Defines and supports Train level tests
    • Support engineering studies defining Train Performance in pre-tender and tendering phases.
    • Support the Instantiation process when required
    • Support technical open issues resolution, then ensure feedback of REX of the Performance problems identified in project development and warranty phase into the Platform Products.

 

V. EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES & REQUIRED COMPETENCES:

 

1. Educational Requirements:  

Mandatory:

* Engineering degree and/or Business School

 

2. Experience 

Mandatory:

* Minimum of 5 years relevant Train Performance and electrical / system experience

* Extensive knowledge of products, projects, systems, Metier process and company background

Desirable:

* Platform and Product management knowledge

  • Fluent in English: spoken and written is essential, French is desirable
