Alstom is recruiting a Train System Performance Manager, with a mechanical and electrical engineer background, for its Rolling Stock site located in Paris Saint-Ouen.You will join the Rolling Stock Team in Paris, an integrated team supporting the Group’s value creation by operationally delivering specific tenders and projects, as well as R&D and sustaining activities.The Paris team has been leading the development of projects like new Avelia Liberty, very high-speed train for Amtrak (US), Dubai 2020 Metro... We are starting new projects such as Cologne tramway (Germany), electrical trains just won for Denmark and more to come…


Your mission


You lead system engineering studies making sure our trains reach the best performances.


Working closely with the Engineering Chief of Development and the Train Architect Manager, interfacing with the customer, you support the definition the train system architecture. You select and specify the train main sub-systems: traction, bogie, motor, auxiliary converter, battery, brake, air conditioning, doors…


You ensure the train validation on test ring and on customer tracks making sure it meets the customer’s requirements technically and targeted performances.


Your global technical vision of the Train eases the interface management between all systems and the understanding of the performances interdependency.


The variety of technical subjects to deal with makes your work exciting and incredibly interesting.


What are your responsibilities?


You are accountable for train global technical performances:


  • Requirement management, coming from Customer, Standards, Alstom Metiers and Plateform,
  • Requirement allocations to the various subsystems in close collaboration with the relevant specialists,
  • Specification of train operating modes,
  • Global System architecture as input the external/internal requirements,
  • Sub-systems performance specifications,
  • Consistency and compatibility between all the sub-systems, for the applicable train configuration.


You lead the train integration and tuning phase.


You define and perform Train verification strategy, V&V, train test level specifications, in close collaboration with all Engineering Metiers and Certification & Validation teams.


You support the Chief of Development for implementation and update of Engineering risks mitigation plan, improving proposals in terms of QCD and during the change order process.


During train revenue service, you ensure the resolution of technical open issues in accordance with the project strategy and provide return of experience to be implemented in the Reference Solutions Library.


You perform reporting at project level and at Metier level.


What do you need to qualify for this job?


  • + 8 years’ experience, in railway industry, as mechanical & electrical engineer working in an engineering department.
  • You have a strong knowledge of train sub-system components and a solid experience in design & development
  • You have already animated and coordinated technical teams in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Fluent in English, you have excellent communication skills and team spirit.
  • You are opened for some occasional international travels, short-term missions.
