The Train Architecture Manager is responsible for the overall train physical architecture and integration, ensuring structured and efficient coordination of Mechanical General Studies, Sub-Systems integration and defining optimal train architectures to fulfilling the product requirements covering our targeted markets.

 

Key accountabilities:

  • Coordinate and validate General Studies considering applicable instructions/processes and other specific product requirements (internal or external) covering our targeted markets
  • Support transverse product analysis and optimization in regards of:
    • Weight management
    • Crashworthiness
    • Corrosion and Materials
    • Mechanical strength and assemblies
    • Mounting principles and Industrial performances 
  • Define the global Train physical architecture taking as input the external/internal and standard requirements applicable.
    • In collaboration with Product Chief Engineers
  • Ensure progressive convergence toward defined architecture
    • Allocate volume, specify interfaces and define Installation Strategy transversally for all product families
    • Make arbitration on architecture respect between the Sub-Systems to reach the best compromise at train level
    • Validate & freeze interfaces and installations according to product roadmaps
    • Define and perform verification activities relevant for the product
  • Support engineering studies defining Train architecture in pre-tender and tendering phases.
  • Support the Instantiation process when required
  • Support technical open issues resolution, then ensure feedback of REX of the mechanical problems identified in project development and warranty phase into the Platform Products

 

Experience and Competencies

  • Engineering degree 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Train Architecture role
  • Knowledge of Railway Industry / Product management 

 

  • Able to analyse data, solve problems and make efficient decisions in a complex environment – be data driven
  • Pro-active - able to deliver on-time, on-quality and to cost (QCD)
  • Good working understanding of internal processes: Tenders, Projects, Engineering, Industrial, Sourcing, Quality and their interfaces…
  • Good communication skill (presentations, synthesis, relationship with contributors ...)

 

Location: France (Paris/St Ouen) or UK ( Derby)
