Purpose of the Job

Alstom is deploying worldwide its railway systems and infrastructure activities. As part of the Digital & Integrated Systems Product Line, the Infra & Telecom platform is responsible to develop competitive slab track solutions, support the tenders and projects teams from Business Development to Project Execution, provide engineering and construction expertise, capitalize the Return of Experience.  These cover conventional light rail, underground and mainline railways.

 

Following recent commercial successes worlwide (Toulouse Metro, Grand Paris Line 18, Santiago Line 7, Tel Aviv Green Line , ...) , we are looking to reinforce our track engineering team in Alstom HQ. 

 

The purpose of the Track Structural Expert position is to : 

  • Be responsible to validate track slab and foundations design as per structural point of view
  • Develop structural analysis for trackforms (track slab, plinth, floating slab etc), rail structure interaction
  • Justify proposals towards track design manager, partners, customer.
  • Coordinate with other entities (others ALSTOM departments / civil work partners…) for the technical aspects of the track interfaces and especially with the civil works.
  • Be the referent on track structural competency Alstom worldwide. 

 

In particular, the structural expert will ensure : 

  •  Deliver calculation report

  • Establish and /or validate technical drawings for reinforced structures

  • Ensure compliance with standards, technical specifications and procedures including quality procedures.

  • Participate and provide added value to R&D program

  • Provide technical expertise to fix structural open issues both on tenders and projects, from investigation to modification implementation and problem closure 

  • Guide Design Manager for implementation and update of Engineering risks mitigation plan

 

 

Organisation Structure

Track Design Manager reports to Track Engineering Manager .

Organisation, Market and Business Understanding

The candidate must have good knowledge of typical slab track design and performances, the capacity to understand customer expectations. 

 

Educational Requirements

Qualified Engineer from any engineering discipline, preferably civils orientated

Professional qualifications an advantage.

English and French languages mandatory

 

Desired Knowledge / Experience

  • Experience of 10-15 years in a design office for civil work structure or railway infrastructure as structural engineer.

  • strong abilities in :

           - FEM modelisation and analysis with:  ANSYS or Hypermesh suite (will be a plus) / RSI (UIC 774-3) analysis experience will be a plus

          - Reinforced concrete design following: Eurocode / ACI / Model code will be a plus

          - Unreinforced concrete structure :  NF P98-086 – design of concrete road /  EN 16432 series for ballastless track will be a plus

          - Steel structure (less important)
