The overall mission of the Project Accounting Manager is to ensure the correct application of IFRS standards on Project Accounting (IFRS 15) throughout the Group, to provide support & solutions to the business on all subjects relating to Alstom Project Accounting policies, either at Tender stage or at Execution stage, to be part of the development of the Alstom Finance community thanks to the designing of new training courses or updates on Project Accounting and the animation of such trainings. The role belongs to the Accounting & ESG Standards Director.
Key accountabilities
- Become the IFRS specialist on technical subjects related to Project Accounting for the benefit of Finance community at Tender & Execution stages, focused on the correct application of the Alstom’s “Reporting & Accounting Manual” on IFRS 15 related to Sales & Margin recognition on Projects : decision to book an order, rules to be applied on performance obligations, booking of variable considerations, consequences of new variation orders or contract negotiations, etc…
- Provide support & guidance to Tenders on structured projects involving specific legal and/or financing schemes with customers and partners, as PPPs or leasing contracts for example
- Contribute to the clarification and improvement of Alstom’s accounting policies on Project Accounting (mainly IFRS15) and participate to the bi-annual update of the Alstom’s “Reporting & Accounting Manual”
- Be a close business partner of the Finance Project Managers, but also of the Tender & Project Control teams, during the bi-annual process of Finance Project Reviews where Costs & Margins at Completion are reviewed & updated to prepare the Half Year and Year End Closings of the Group
- Support to Half-Year & Year-End closing process on all the specific subjects related to Project Accounting, prepare or support the preparation of position papers to justify complex accounting positions on projects
- Provide guidance on Project Accounting to the Finance Business Process Owners in preparation of change requests to be implemented for new releases to the ERP core model
- Develop or contribute to update IFRS trainings on Project Accounting subjects and become an IFRS trainer
- Support the Finance Project Managers community to explain the way the Project financial data are booked in the Alstom’s ERP and reported in the Consolidation/Reporting tools
- Contribute to the animation of the Global Accounting Network (Head Quarter + Region Accounting Directors): set-up of regular conference calls to update on new topics, development of a share point or equivalent to share good practices, …
Educational Requirements
- University degree in Finance or Accounting / Master in Business / CPA
- Fluent in English is mandatory (written and spoken), additional language is a plus, in particular French
Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ Audit experience or equivalent, in a Big 4 or equivalent, plus an additional experience in an international company with experience / knowledge in Long term contracts business
- Experience on IFRS Standards as well as on Finance consolidation
- Knowledge of SAP BFC or other consolidation tool
- Opened to welcome a senior Finance Project Manager with a strong experience within the group.
- Good experience of SAP ERP is a plus
