As part of Project Office & Engineering Organization, Development To Cost aims to ensure the best & just enough technical definition, at the just enough cost, on a wide range of rolling stock systems (Doors, Brakes, HVAC, Pantograph,…). Consequently, we would meet our customer’s needs while being competitive technically and economically against our competitor.
Our transversal role requires to collaborate closely with key stakeholders (Engineering, Finances, Procurement, indus, Suppliers…). Always keeping a global technical and cost view, Development to Cost challenge is to contribute to the best Total Cost of Ownership at train level (acquisition + integration + maintenance…).
Job description (Product Cost Engineer)
In frame of tender and projects development, the Product Cost Engineer is in charge of evaluating product technical & economical features. After an induction program, her/his main mission will be dedicated to Train Design & Mechanical Engineering topics on rolling stock components
- assess the cost of products all along the design & development cycles, and set relevant target cost
- Perform Technical and economical business cases and benchmarks by relevant cost analysis
- Challenge projects requirements and propose new alternatives: Technical, Design, industrial, procurement
- support procurement negotiation by providing a should cost and share hypothesis in transparency
- Put in place Development To Cost guidelines with technical and economical database.
- Challenge internal technical requirements and contribute to set new standards.
Hard Skills
- Cost culture knowledge and/or experience, Value Engineering.
- Technical skills to understand and challenge cost driver
- Good Knowledge and/or experiences in product & industrial processes
- knowledge in functional analysis and competitiveness methodologies (KAIZEN, 5S, PDCA…)
- Railway product or industry knowledge is appreciated
- English: fluent

Educational Requirements:
Master’s degree in engineering (Engineering school or university)
Experience:
Mandatory: 2 years in Industry or other Companies with product development stakes
Desirable: Railway Industry knowledge: products, customer, supplier, and normative stakes
