Context

 Cost monitoring and optimization is key for Alstom to ensure its competitiveness in tender phase as well as during project execution. This is the core mission of Design to Cost Department.

As part of Alstom Saint-Ouen (93) site Organization, we are closely working with all technical leaders, Tender/Project teams and Sourcing community to ensure that all electrical parts of the train are at a just enough level in terms of technical definition and cost.  

Always keeping a global technical and cost view, Design to Cost challenge is to contribute to the best Total Cost of Ownership at train level (acquisition + integration + maintenance…).

 

Purpose of the job

 

During tenders and projects development, reporting to the Design to Cost Manager, the Electrical Product Cost Engineer is in charge of evaluating product technical & economical features as well as identifying optimizations.

 

After an induction program, her/his mission will be to:

  • Lead Design to Cost activities on a Project (or Tender) electrical scope
  • Assess the cost of products (electrical components, harnesses, cubicles, …) all along their design/development cycle with the support of costing tools, set up relevant target costs, support technical business cases with relevant cost analysis
  • Prepare and participate to sourcing negotiations
  • Generate optimizations ideas on the electrical scope and make them applied on the project/tender (with the participation to the Project design reviews, the challenge of the requirements, the best architecture selection, the Just enough sizing, Make or Buy studies, etc.)

 

Your profile :


Expected skills:

  • 5 years minimum in Industry (ideally Railway Industry) or other Companies with product development stakes
  • Technical background : Master’s degree in Engineering is a plus
  • Cost culture would be appreciated
  • Industrial processes knowledge would be appreciated
  • English speaker is a must

 

You have a good team spirit and you are results oriented, with good communication skills as you will be in interaction with diverse internal and external interlocutors (Engineering, Industrial and Sourcing departments, projects/tenders team, suppliers, ...). 

 

Note this position requires punctual travels to Alstom sites and suppliers. 

Position based in Saint-Ouen (93).
