Train Design métier team is in charge to define, deploy and implement processes, métier rules and standard solutions for all rolling stock and components mechanical population worldwide. Within Central Engineering in Saint-Ouen, in the Train Design functional team, we are looking for a Knowledge Management Leader.

The job covers the metier referential management, the competencies & knowledge management, the training definition and its organisation, for key resources. It implies strong interaction with HR, Engineering central functions, experts and key operational roles.


Purpose of the Job

  • To set in place and support the deployment of competencies & knowledge management
  • To guarantee the accessibility and the pertinence of the function referential
  • To concretise the digital world promises in his domain


Accountable to :

In “Competencies & Training” domain:

  • Give a continuous vision on function resources in operation (headcount, location, competencies assessment)
  • Define the yearly learning priorities
  • Build and promote the function training offer, including an increasing proportion of E-Learning.
  • Manage for key operational roles training (starting with Train Architects) : Pilot training upgrade, select candidates, organise the training sessions, set in place a network for the graduated.
  • Select and maintain a trainer’s pool

In “knowledge management”:

  • Continuously improve the Function design rules referential (around 150 doc. and 20 to upgrade per year). Control diffusion and adherence.
  • Insure the creation of confidential Knowledge books for key knowledge (around 15)
  • Maintain the competency responsible pool (most from operational sites)
  • Manage the sites continuous improvement targets & assessment (Apsys matrix)
  • Analyse Return On Experience from design error identified in Engineering change data base and pilot function referential improvement.

You will be responsible to :

  • Define road maps, manage development, deployment, continuous improvement,
  • Manage a direct team of 2,5 persons: 2 Knowledge Engineer (1 Ex-AT & 1 Ex-BT) and 0,5 training manager, already connected to Alstom E-learning creation pole

Knowledge & Experience

  • General knowledge in train mechanical integration
  • Communications and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated capability to train teams
  • 3-5 years of experience in Engineering or knowledge management
  • English operational
