Your job as : Intellectual Property Project Lead

  • Drive the execution of IPRs Development project in Alstom, according to company requirements (Executive Steerco) and COMPO Platforms & Services PL expectations to maximize the results with respect to sales and margin for long term
  •               Be accountable for project management : Executive Steerco presentation and Operational Working Group (OWG) animation with representative from each key function : Legal, COMPO/RS PLs, Procurement, Regions, Tender Control , Services PL. measure the progress with proper smart KPIs with main stakeholders within the company
  •               The scope of work is for All Parts & Components (all commodities) where the relevant design is justifying application for Patents (IPRs) with as is situation and considering future development with  COMPO Platforms & Services PL
  •               Define with OWG the IPRs strategy toward customers via Tender control (Legal tender Tool) considering Customers segmentation (Public vs Private , Strategic vs non-Strategic…)
  •               Define with OWG the IPRs strategy toward Suppliers via Procurement Legal & Commodity Directors considering Suppluers segmentation (Strategic like KB/WT and non-strategic )
  •               Formalize the strategy for main subsystems starting with use cases : Wheels, Bogies OVH Parts & Friction (Disk & Pads)
  •               Communicate the Golden rules toward the company especially with all Regions for increasing awareness
  •               Coordinate the data collection for understanding Today situation in term of IPRs & way of management in the company
  •               Support any M&A opportunities wherever IPRs can be developed and finalize the reengineering procedure with Legal dpt & PL Services R&D



The Intellectual Property Project Lead will report directly to the VP Parts & Overhaul





1/ Be responsible for the project governance, define project strategy in line with Steerco guidance and OWG outcome, elaborate, validate and implement IPRs strategy per main commodity starting with Uses cases (Wheels, Bogies OVH parts & friction).


2/ Lead and coordinate project activities and stakeholders:


  • Animate the transversal team (OWG) and prepare the Steerco with the support of VP Parts & OVH
  • Definition of Project objectives & main drivers (parts/service performance, planning) to achieve IPRs development within the company
  • Define the OWG staffing, as well as his/her WP resources
  • Escalate when project resources available do not match the project needs to IPRs Executive Steerco
  • Team leading (OWG) and when applicable others Managers of internal and external partners (M&A , R&D etc..)
  • Make sure that key project stakeholders are aligned towards project/ goals.
  • Change management starting with Today situation analysis (data collection and processes in place)
  • Communicate the Golden rules toward the company (Webinar) especially with all Regions for increasing awareness
  • Proactive estimate risks and opportunity management for IPRs development


3/ Understand customer and suppliers relationship

  • Continuously ensuring alignment with customer contractual requirements via Tender control
  • Ensuring contract management with proper T&C on IPRs toward Suppliers


4/ Define Performance measurements (to be created from scratch):  

  • Project Performance Indicator
  • Sales & Margin Performance Indicator
  • T&C development in Tenders and Suppliers contracts





The educational requirements :

  • Master degree
  • R&D background and Legal basics competences


The experience required :

  • 15 year experience as project manager in railway industry of which at least 5 year experience of medium critical projects
  • Experience of working in and with multi-national companies and in different business cultures
