Alstom is recruiting an Industrial Costing Manager for its Rolling Stock site located in Paris Saint-Ouen.


Reporting hierarchically to the RSC STO Industrial Director, you will join the Rolling Stock Team (RS STO) in Paris, an integrated team supporting the Group’s value creation by operationally delivering specific tenders and projects, as well as R&D and sustaining activities. We have starting new projects such as Cologne tramway (Germany), Toulouse Metro, electrical trains just won for Denmark and more to come…


Purpose of the job

  • On request of the Bid Manager, establish Industrial costing: fixed and variable costs
  • On request of the project industrial stakeholders or the industrial director, provide costing to help taking decisions.
  • Animate the site continuous improvement roadmap (structured by the standard APSYS roadmap)


Responsibilities industrial costing


In general :

  • Based on elements coming from Engineering, Project, Industrialization, Supply Chain and Industrial quality, performs the costing of a new product and/or process solution on the industrial scope.
  • Industrial scope includes:
    • Fixed Industrialization costs
    • Variable production costs
    • Quality inspection costs
    • Supply Chain variable costs
    • Material and labor costs


Industrial costing have to be performed in the following situation:

  • Development of a new product
  • Development of a new process or manufacturing technology
  • During tender phase of a project. In this case, the project industrial organization, the Make or Buy assumptions have to be defined and validated.
  • Before decision of a Make or Buy change.
  • In case of a transfer of activities.
  • In case of a major product or process change being decided.


Other activities:

  • Define and maintain the workload plan of the industrial department, based on the demand plan.
  • Update industrial costs of the reference library.
  • Perform specific analysis such as Time Spent vs Method Time, on demand


Continuous improvement responsibilities

  • According to the site continuous improvement roadmap, animate workshops, Value Stream Mapping, continuous improvement and lean actions
  • Animate the site APSYS actions plan across all departments, bring support to all departments when needed
  • Monthly update the site APSYS self-assessment in close link with all department heads
  • Benchmark other Alstom sites in order to keep working the continous improvement loop



Your profile


  • Process & Manufacturing Engineering background with 5 to 10 years’ experience preferably in the railway industry.
  • Technical experience of Process Engineering, line balancing, Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Time Management is a plus
  • Experience in working with an ERP (such as SAP) for Bill of Materials, Routings is a plus
  • Knowledge of CAD and PLM tools (CATIA, DELMIA…) is a plus
  • English fluent
  • Team spirit, good communication skills, organization skills
