PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Purpose of the job:

Support the Group RSA Director to :

  1. Develop and maintain the Railway Safety Management System of Alstom ensuring:
  • the Railway Safety Policy is implemented
  • compliance with the main Regulations and Standards
  1. Coordinate and animate the Railway safety effort, lobbying, knowledge and culture

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES

Support the Alstom Group Railway Safety Director in the specific activities:

Railway Safety Management System

  • Deploy the Safety policy Through the Alstom Safety Management System and maintain it
  • Propose any improvement or axis for development of Railway Safety 
  • RSA process owner to ensure consistency between Businesses / platforms in term of main processes
  • Coordinate the effort to ensure deployment within PL/platforms/regions                                                                                 
  • Propose governance for Alstom SMS and indicators to measure safety performance

Railway Safety Issue Management

  • Organize and implement the tools required for alert management
  • Ensure consistency in the way of working regarding potential safety issues
  • Support the Alstom and Regional governance (presentation-participation) e.g.  to the TOP10 Sterco”

Railway Safety Knowledge and culture

  • Support the Management in the nomination of World Class Engineering (WCE) Railway Safety expert
  • Animate the Railway Safety network (especially the Core Team) and organize safety day
  • Deploy the Railway Safety Culture according to the competencies and knowledge requirements (training & awareness)

External bodies working group related to Railway Safety

  • Ensure a vision of the participation of safety experts within the external safety working group (e.g. CENELEC- European norms, ERA - European Railway Agency)
  • Ensure we have a common Alstom position  outside Alstom when involved externally

Performance measurements:

  • Management of RSA KPIs

EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES & REQUIRED COMPETENCES

Educational Requirements:  Advanced University Degree in Engineering

Mandatory: MASTER degree in Engineering

Desirable:

Experience:

Mandatory

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the Railway Safety domain
  • Minimum technical knowledge on railway System, Rolling Stock, Signaling and Infrastructure
  • Significant experience of international projects.
  • Successful experience in managing teams.
  • Knowledge of Railway Safety regulations and standards

Desirable:

  • Successful experience in working in a multi-site, multi-cultural environment.
  • Recognition of expertise (internal or external)
  • Experience in converting safety and reliability strategy into actionable items improving the product performance and cost.
