This position supports Alstom Data Science and AI programs by designing, developing, testing, validating and industrializing production‑grade AI/ML models and advanced analytics across enterprise and mobility domains. In this capacity, you will be working on our next generation data-driven solutions for the mobility industry, in collaboration with engineering and mobility specialists, data and AI experts, métier and business leaders.

The main purpose of this position is to design and develop advanced models to extract key insights from mobility data using a variety of tools and techniques, including optimization algorithms, machine learning, statistical modeling and data visualization, in order to contribute to the development of industrial-grade data-driven solutions (“proof of concept” to “free-for-tender”) in all Data and AI-related domains, including energy optimization, maintenance, operations and other business-related domains.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Define and develop Data Science and AI algorithms to meet project/customer needs, by supporting :

[DATA & AI MODELS DEVELOPMENT]

  • Design and develop data-driven solutions to support business needs, including integration of engineering aspects and evaluation of financial impacts
  • Implement feature selection/extraction methods to improve ML models, derive interpretable insights and solve complex problems
  • Collaborate with domain experts to understand business requirements and define the best approach to meet customer needs
  • Design and implement different optimization algorithms for smart traffic management and energy optimization
  • Create software modules to extend existing models and combine smart traffic management algorithms with energy-efficient fleet synchronisation strategies 

[DATA & AI MODELS ASSESSMENT]

  • Build reports and explanatory materials to share with domain experts and other relevant stakeholders
  • Evaluate the opportunities from new mathematical approaches and data science technologies
  • Apply a strong testing and quality assurance practices
  • Assess and enhance the relevance of incoming data as well as of model output, after selecting appropriate evaluation metrics

 [DATA & AI PRODUCTS INDUSTRIALIZATION]

  • Support field trials with internal and external customers using Alstom’s software modules and tools
  • Document Data Science and AI modules and code; contribute and review system, software, V&V and interface requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of AI solutions into production environments, guaranteeing robustness, performance, and compliance with Alstom standards.

  • Present results in a clear manner using presentations, interactive dashboards, and reports
  • Review academic and industry research to identify state-of-the-art Data science and AI methods, assess their applicability to Alstom projects, and share insights and recommendations with the company to foster innovation and best practices

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in computer science or engineering supplemented by extensive training in data science/ML or related disciplines

 

COMPETENCES AND EXPERIENCE:

Mandatory:

  • Excellent knowledge of Python programming
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of modern statistics, including time-series and signal processing, text mining or image processing
  • Experience with Python data science stack (pandas, scikit-learn, Keras, NumPy, TensorFlow)
  • Strong knowledge of data science, ML and AI algorithms (e.g. classification, regression, dimensionality reduction, neural networks), including generative AI topics (VAEs, GPTs, LLM, GANs, diffusion models,…)
  • Experience in optimizing model (hyper-)parameters tuning for performance and costs
  • Experience with database management (SQL, ElasticSearch, etc.)
  • Experience with LINUX environment (shell scripting)
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, and release management tools

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of optimization algorithms (LP, QP, MILP, MIQP, GA, Metaheuristic methods, DP)
  • Experience in application of optimization Libraries and solver (e.g. CPLEX, Gurobi, SciPy)
