As System Engineer for Climatic Comfort and Train Operation, you are responsible of the climatic comfort at Train level and of Train operability modes.
 

For the climatic comfort, you lead the system development, integrate the system, made of the network duct, heaters and HVAC ; you thus endorse and ensure the compliance with customer and certification requirements related to Climatic comfort and People Ventilation.

For Train operation, you develop the train operation concept, for all its capabilities (such as Traction, Brake, Climatic comfort, Passengers access, etc …)  and deploy it to the system engineering team. You thus endorse and insure that the Train, as designed, will meet Customer operational need.

 

You will be part of the train system team which is a multi-discipline and multi-cultural team composed of 10+ system engineers who work on different systems of the train. At the same time, you will be part of a global Alstom community (core competency network) of climatic comfort and Train operation

 

 

Responsibilities and activities:

 

For the climatic comfort

  • Specify the climatic comfort performances and functions, at Train level.
  • Specify the sub-system requirements (for HVAC, Heaters) to achieve the required performances, and function and respecting multidisciplinary constraints or guidelines (such as Safety, EMC, Eco-design, Maintenance, Fire & Smoke, etc …)
  • Define the required thermal power for heating/cooling and define the thermal insulation targets for all contributors (such as Carbody, Windows, Doors)
  • Lead the climatic comfort convergence, through the CFD computations and Aeraulic mock-up test
  • Technically steer the supplier development, through design gate review
  • Support the Project team in front of the final Customer,
  • Assess and mitigate the technical risks
  • Lead the verification and validation activities, including the tuning phase
  • Lead the HVAC system reliability growth during revenue service

 

For the Train Operation

  • Identify Train operability context,
  • Analyse final Customer needs and identify the potential gaps from our reference solutions
  • Perform operability analysis, identifying operational use cases, developing operational use case scenarios, with the System Engineers
  • Assist in defining human interfaces for all involved users (such as driver’s desk)
  • Specify the Operation requirements, cascade them to the System engineering team and ensure their consideration
  • Converge with System Engineer and Train Performance manager on the system architecture and interface enabling the required train operability concept

 

 

Your profile :

  • Engineering degree, with preferably Thermal, Fluid dynamic and Railways backgrounds
  • 5 years of working experience in engineering, preferably in Railways
  • Railways Operational experience will be a plus
  • Leadership
  • Strong analytical skills and work autonomy
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Available to travel in France and abroad for short-term missions
