As a brake system engineer, you are responsible for the development of the brake system by endorsing and ensuring compliance with the Customer and Certification requirements by performing the following activities,

 

Your Responsibilities:

 

  • With the Train performance manager, lead the design and development of the complete brakes system of the Train (Mainline, Sub-urban, urban & Tramways).
  • Responsible to review/perform brake calculations, thermal analysis, pneumatic calculations, etc.
  • Work with transversal teams to identify the targets at the train level and integrate them into brake system level requirements.
  • Perform analysis of norms, standards & local technical regulations (TSI, etc..) to review their applicability to the project and guarantee compliance if applicable.  
  • Evaluate the technical proposal by the brake suppliers and help the team to select the solution. And manage the technical deliverables of suppliers during a project (Clause by clause analysis, First article inspection, etc.)
  • Responsible to present the project teams to perform external (with clients & suppliers) and internal technical design reviews at various phases of the project. At the same time identifying the technical risks and development associated mitigation plans throughout the project development phase.
  • Responsible to lead/support the validation activities of the brakes system by performing the following activities
    • Development and execution of validation plan
    • Creation of Type test specification and type test report followed by both static & dynamic tests on the train.
    • Perform the tunning of the brake system to meet desired performances working with a cross-functional system like traction and signalling (if applicable).
  • Support the project team to increase the reliability growth of brake systems during revenue service
  • Lead the brake system reliability growth by performing Root cause analysis with help of reliability engineers during revenue service (if needed)

 

This role will also give you a very good understanding/exposure both at train level and other key systems of trains (ex: traction, signalling, etc). It may lead you to a future position as a Train performance manager role or an expert in the brake domain.

 

As a brakes system engineer, you will be part of the train system team which is a multi-discipline and multi-cultural team composed of 20+ system engineers who works on different systems of trains. At the same time, you will be part of a global Alstom community of brakes where all brake engineers and experts share their ideas and knowledge.

 

Your Profile:

 

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical/Electrical/physics/aeronautics or similar.
  • 5+ years of working experience on brakes or similar systems (which involves pneumatronics system, and/or friction components)
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving skills and self-reliant
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Travels in France and Abroad for short term missions
