Purpose of the job

This role provides support to ensure that rolling stock maintenance tenders, or tenders with significant Total Cost of Ownership evaluation are compliant, competitive and attractive, whilst ensuring that commitment that are deliverable and key technical risks are properly addressed.

 

Reporting to: Bid technical Director

 

Main responsibilities

  1. Provide local support to ensure that Life cycle costs are fully optimised.
  2. Support the development of maintenance and execution strategies ensure our proposal matches the customer expectations/Requirements, whilst supporting a winning price.
  3. Define maintenance inputs to the RS design team, required by the clients spec, our maintenance execution strategy and Alstom DfS best practice
  4. Co-ordinate support from the Services platform wider community to introduce specialist skills, including depot solutions, availability modelling, capacity planning, PHM and dynamic maintenance tools.
  5. Take part in tender validation and optimisation reviews including Gap reviews, QCD and TRM.
  6. Autor or support the development of technical response documents.
  7. Ensure that successful bids are properly handed over to the project team.  Paying specific attention to the main optimisation assumptions made during the tender.

 

Experience and competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of train maintenance processes and general maintenance practices.
  • A firm understanding or RS LCC, cost drivers and system target maintenance costs.
  • Excellent communication skills (able to communicate to stakeholders and several organisational levels), together with a track record in negotiating to achieve optimal all around agreements.
  • The ability to coach and mentor colleagues.
  • Able to write high quality technical documentation.

 

Qualification

  • Formal qualification in a technical discipline, preferably Master’s Degree in Engineering

  • Flexible location within Europe
  • Frequent travels are required (on average 1 or 2 trips per month)
