Purpose

At Alstom Headquarters, based in Saint-Ouen near Paris, we look for an Aerodynamics Engineer to join our AeroX team.
The role requires to participate to the development of sustainable transportation modes, mainly related to rolling stock, providing expertise in the field of aerodynamics, thermal comfort, aero-thermal equipment installation.
You will support projects from regions all over the globe and contribute to Alstom R&D programs.
As part of the worldwide AeroX network, you will be interacting with many other disciplines needed to the development of the complex product that is a train.
 

Mission

Lead AeroX related activities within projects development, identifying viable technical solutions.
Interact with both internal and external tenders and projects stakeholders.
Predict aerodynamic performance (Resistance to motion, Pressure head pulse, Pressure waves, Crosswind response).
Evaluate thermo-fluid dynamic performance (ventilation ducts, driver cabin and passenger compartment, equipment installation).
Perform numerical simulations and analyses on existing and new design concepts.
Prepare the documentation required by any activity related to aerodynamic performances.
Contribute to continuous improvement of AeroX expertise and processes.
Liaise with aerodynamics engineers within AeroX network to share experience and grow know-how.
Participate in R&D programs and platforms work packages.
Develop creative and innovative solutions as well as new methodologies.

 

Profile

MSc or PhD in aerospace engineering or any other relevant engineering discipline with strong fluid-mechanics and thermal management background.
At least 5 years experience in industrial environment in a similar position.
Sound knowledge of computational fluid dynamics methods.
Previous track record with major RANS CFD software in industrial applications.
Familiar with 3D parametric CAD and pre-processing software.
Good communication and management skills required.
Problem solving, attention to details and continuous learning attitude.
Ability to work in team, be inclusive and deliver on schedule.
Mandatory good command of English, both spoken and written. French will be an advantage.
