The Alstom Headquarters, based in Saint-Ouen near Paris, is looking for an Advanced Testing Vibroacoustic Engineer to join the team. In this role you will participate to the development of sustainable transportation modes, mainly related to rolling stock, on the topics of vibroacoustics. You will participate to the development of products for all regions on the globe and contribute to the R&D programs of Alstom. You will be part of the worldwide network of Alstom acousticians and interact with the many other disciplines needed to the development of the complex product that is a train. On top of that, the Advanced Testing Vibroacoustic Engineer is in charge of applying advanced testing techniques on Alstom products around the world (EMA, TPA, ODS, etc). Testing campaigns will include multichannel setups that will require a high level of organization skills and reactivity to issues related to tests. He/she will also be in charge of the improvement of existing testing techniques and the development of new ones.


We require rigor, independence, teamplay, creativity, agility. As a part of your job you will travel frequently to test Alstom rolling stock all over the world, in an environment requiring strong organization and agility. In this position you will be in charge of the vibroacoustic design of Alstom tenders and projects.You will be in charge of simulations, testing and management of acoustic topics assigned to you.

Mandatory assets for this position are:

- Experience in advanced testing techniques (e.g. EMA, ODS, TPA)

- Experience with a commercial data acquisition suite (e.g. LMS, B&K)

Strong assets for this position are: 

- experience in vibroacoustic simulations

- work experience in an industrial environment.


Main responsibilities:

  • Support design of trains for offers and projects as lead vibroacoustic engineer
  • Perform standard and advanced Vibroacoustics tests, postprocess the data and report to validate prediction models and type tests
  • Perform Vibroacoustic simulations for vibracoustic performances of our products
  • Lead and manage R&D actions in the context of Vibroacoustics tests for Rolling Stock. This includes management of resources and budget respecting the quality, cost and delay of R&D deliverables
  • Liaise with experts in Vibroacoustics and other key domains to gather relevant experience
  • Develop creative and innovative solutions



  • Engineering, Physics, Mathematics degree (Msc, PhD or equivalent) related to Vibroacoustics.
  • Management skills to lead R&D actions with a transversal approach
  • Good communication skills, pro-activity, team working, strategic vision
  • English conversational/writing/reading advanced level mandatory
  • French conversational/reading advanced level is preferred
  • Experience in an engineering department in an industrial context is a strong asset
  • Matlab advanced level is an asset
