Within Central Engineering in Saint-Ouen, we are looking for a Train Design pre-engineering Manager in order to manage Train Design operational activities.


Reporting directly to Train Design Metier Director, you will:



Accountable for :

  • Consolidating Train Design activities fixed cost definition, proper mechanical Carry-Over definition for tenders&projects and ensuring that associated hypothesis are clearly highlighted
  • Ensuring understanding and application of the Train Design rules (inc Standard Solutions), processes and tools (multi-domains).
  • Ensuring that mechanical design reviews are prepared and documented as per the project/program schedule and to follow-up the main open actions
  • Ensuring proper collaborative work with other metier/department
  • Ensuring adequate Train Design resources are appointed to the projects/programs/tenders allocated to the Site
  • Defining mitigation plans covering a risk identified on TD scope.
  • Escalading any métier issue and improvment to Central Métier and contributing actively to métier networking


Responsible for:

  • Managing the development of the site TD team to ensure the adequacy of the capacity vs workload vs skills and the transfer of activities if needed.
  • Implementing an organisation to ensure the proper management of TD activities in Pre-Engineering
  • Managing forecast TD workload, based on hypotheses provided by Workload Manager and identifying necessary resources to secure QCD commitments.
  • Supporting the TD team in the resolution of issues and challenging actions (multi-domains) in particular those involving other stakeholders (internal or external).
  • Having a pro-active challenging view on the overall studies performed by the team to enhance their adequacy/consistency and compliance with the applicable instructions and guidelines.


Job Specifications

  • Mechanical Engineering applied to Railway products (or Automotive domain or Aerospace domain) with 10+ years of experience
  • Experience of 5+ years team management
  • Good Communications and interpersonal skills
  • Conflict Management and multitasking
  • Customer Focus / Management skills
  • Structured and organised with Hand-on approach
  • Fluent in English and national language on the site
