The role of the Strategic Sourcing Manager is to develop and implement sourcing strategies along with the business goals. It is a key strategic role for the organization and our ability to growth the Aftermarket Parts & Overhauls North Americas business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to identify and evaluate potential suppliers.
- Evaluate potential insourcing opportunities for specific commodities based on volume and challenges with external suppliers. Assess make vs buy and oversee vs local strategies. Knowledge of Total Cost of Ownership and landed costs required.
- Evaluate suppliers for potential partnerships, mergers & acquisition.
- Manage and maintain commercial relationships with suppliers and leading complex negotiation on contractual conditions of Purchase. This includes organizing bids, comparing and judging supplier offers relative to new and existing customer requests.
- Prepare and launch Request for Quotation with suppliers. Ensure optimized time to quote and short turn around. Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, service, and price.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and product specifications to support Customer’s needs.
- Review Parts & CRO business portfolio for future growth and work with relevant stakeholders to increase the business as per Alstom targets.
- Manage proactively Obsolescence of supplier’s solution and support management plan of it.
- Identify potential savings and implement continuous cost reduction initiatives, process improvement and standardization.
- Negotiate and manage supplier contracts to ensure cost reductions while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate and negotiate along with Commodity Managers to incorporate services aftermarket T&Cs into Rolling stock contracts.
- Liaise with Commodity Managers to assess sourcing possibilities on regional level across the business lines and recommend synergies to local procurement teams.
- Support the local business procurement teams wherever needed to set up supplier contracts and resolve any issues that need to be escalated.
- Develop and maintain procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and market conditions to make informed decisions and recommendations.

- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering or related field
- 10 years of experience in procurement or strategic sourcing with minimum 5 years in the Rail Industry
- Strong project management and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. SAP knowledge will be an added advantage.
