Purpose of the job:

  • Ensure that the Environment Health & Safety (EHS) management systems of the Region are compliant with Alstom Milestones and meet the Region needs, are coherent, deployed and compliant with the international standards for EHS.
  • Direct and support sites and project EHS Managers of EHS related operations.
  • Monitor EHS objectives and targets.
  • Be the link between the region sites/projects and the central EHS team.
  • Site visits to advise and assist management to implement the defined EHS requirement.


Main Responsibilities


  • Pilot the design, the deployment and the maintenance of the Region EHS Management System (Process, procedures, Key Performance Indicators, tools...) in collaboration with Central EHS team.
  • Promote the use of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 as references of the Alstom EHS management system.
  • Develop and facilitate forums for knowledge and sharing of best practices along with general integration of EHS programs across the region including integration of Product line and Regional EHS initiatives.


  • Identify the right tools for EHS needs and develop the solutions in collaboration with central EHS team.

  • Ensure that EHS tools are in use and maintained update.

Audits and Certification

  • Organize the Alstom Zero Deviation Plan (AZDP) yearly internal audit program and monitor the corrective actions implementation.
  • Identify and organize to train the needed resources to deploy the internal AZDP audit program.
  • Identify internal benchmarks and area of improvement on the basis of the audit’s reports.
  • Ensure availability of region internal auditors, trained and competent (AZDP - internal auditor ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).
  • Identify the Region strategy in terms of certification for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (scope, perimeters, standards) and follow the evolution.
  • Perform audits including Transport Operational Performance in Environment’ s audit.


  • Assistance with Initial Notifications & Return of Experience (REX) Reports creation & distribution.
  • Upload REX report on EHS library.
  • Check the EHS data reported by the sites/projects on monthly, quarterly and yearly basis
  • Ensure the follow’up of the EHS targets and their achievement.
  • Production of slides, graphics & materials for several stakeholders’ meetings, such as: Monthly Operation Performance (MOP), Steering Committee, Work Councils.
  • Identify trends in accidents and incidents across the region – Support and advise sites to find the root causes and implement solutions to reduce these type of events (eg. Hand tools)

Training and Communication

  • Define the EHS training plan in coordination with Alstom University and Central EHS team.
  • Design new EHS trainings in collaboration with Central EHS team and Alstom University.
  • Ensure the training modules availability and the updating.
  • Train users of the region to use the different tools.
  • Define the Region EHS communication plan in coordination with Communication Function.
  • Leading change programs/campaigns aiming to improve performance as required.

Performance measurements  

  • Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) & Injury Frequency Rate (IFR) 1
  • On Time Delivery (OTD) for implementation of new solutions
  • OTD for REX
  • Good practices shared
  • Environmental data reported verified before reviewing by the central.





Educational Requirements:


  • Graduated from Master degree (Technical or Engineering)



  • Diploma or Degree level EHS Qualification
  • Internal auditor
  • Trainer qualification



  • Knowledge of EHS standards (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)
  • Knowledge of the AT organization and processes
  • Experience in operational activities, in documentation management



  • Management of the relationship with external auditing organizations
  • Experience in (ISO9001, IRIS) and quality tools/audit are appreciated
