Purpose of the Job
- To realize an estimation achievable of the technical cost of the parts and assembly
- To support the Engineering team in the Design to Cost way of working
- To participate in the creation of the target cost in the frame of tender and project
- To support the Sourcing team in the negotiation with the suppliers
Performance Measurement, you will be in charge to
- Use the adequate cost model to calculate the technical cost of the Product
- Detect the most important cost drivers of the Product
- Purpose improvements of the design to reduce the technical and Industrial costs
- Promote the cost culture in the Engineering team
- Provide the cost breakdown of the Product
- Negotiation support for Sourcing Team
Responsibilities
Based on the Design of the Product and several assumptions (industrial, sourcing):
- Develop costing tools for the costing network
- Calculate the technical cost (Should Cost / Could Cost) of the Product by using the appropriate tool
- Ensure that the Product is fully feasible
- Check the industrial process
- Ensure the consistency of the assumptions
Contribute to the improvement of the Costing metrics:
- To be a referent on a process or a family of product
- Generate and formalize Design To Cost Ideas
- Formalize the saving opportunities
- Support technical business cases
- Way of working
- Share the feedback coming from the supplier
- Propose design rules to Métiers
- Involvement in the network (REX, practices, etc.)
Required skills & competencies
- Overall knowledge of the railway industry (norms, certifications)
- Industrial Process knowledge (segmentation of the industrial processes, pros and cons per processes, method time awareness)
- Knowledge of quality gates (V-Cycle)
- Knowledge of Electrical Engineering design (Wiring/Devices list, functional/Pure scheme, component sizing…), architecture, integration, tools (DMA/CATIA/EHI/E3S/SEE ONE/FAO-CAO)
- Knowledge of EMC, Maintainability/Safety
- Product / Component knowledge (cubicle, harnesses, cable, connector, cabling accessories, relays, circuit breakers, etc)
- Costing knowledge (Should Cost / Could Cost)
- Great communication skills in English
- Experience using MS Office suite
- Ideally, you have good entrepreneurial skills, agility and collaboration, as well as you're a dynamic, proactive and autonomous professional with a good sense of self-learning skills
