PURPOSE OF THE JOB

NDT Regional Expert: Coordinate, support, animate the Network of NDT Site Experts, technical support to the Sites of the Region in absence of Site NDT Expert.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES  

Accountability & Authorities:

 

NDT Regional Expert

  • Coordinates NDT Site referents at Region Level
  • Establishes, reviews and validates NDT procedures and instructions (for specific applications) 
  • Reviews and challenges NDT procedures and instructions for the Sites of the Region
  • Is aware of the evolutions of the standards of the Region 
  • Supports the selection at site level of the right NDTs
  • Supports innovation by developing new NDT applications for the sites of the Region based on local needs
  • Supervises, provides guidance and mentoring to NDT personnel (all levels)
  • Performs NDT assessments on the sites of the Region to ensure the compliance to NDT standards and Alstom procedures and guidelines
  • Ensures L3 are available on the sites dealing with NDT
  • Animates the network by systematic calls (min 1 / month)
  • Supports root cause analysis and investigations upon Operations request

 

Performance measurements:

NDT Region Expert

  • Number of NDT assessments performed per Region, lead time to close Site action plans on NDT’s
  • NDT Expert (L3) for each site of the Region (where applicable, as a function of the NDT used by the site)
  • All NDTs procedure of the Region are approved by L3 (or verified by Alstom L3 when sub-contracted)

 MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES

Educational Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Engineer's degree mechanics/electrics/electronics
  • Experience in managing Quality tools and problem-solving tools
  • Level 3 according to ISO 9712 or ASNT in the NDT methods visual testing, magnetic testing, penetration testing, ultrasonic testing, Radiography testing, (leak testing is a plus) or L2 with 10 years of experience
  • Welding engineer / welding technician (IWE/IWT)

 

Desirable:

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt

Experience

Mandatory:

  • > 10 year in NDTs
  • > 3 years in management position

Desirable:

  • Management position in Quality > 3 years

Competencies & Skills

  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage functionally an international network
  • Fluent in English

Location:

Physically location may be negotiable within Alstom relevant Americas locations
