Your future role
Take on a key leadership role in a collaborative engineering environment. As a Structural Design Mechanical Lead Engineer (STR MLE), you will lead the development of carbody structures for major rail projects, ensuring high-quality design delivery aligned with project requirements, timelines, and certification standards.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders to develop robust design solutions and support the successful delivery of innovative rail vehicles.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the full requirements lifecycle, from analysis to validation and certification
- Develop and deliver carbody structure (CBS) design solutions aligned with project specifications
- Prepare and manage technical documentation for carbody shell and crash requirements
- Coordinate with engineering teams (FEA, crash, weight) to ensure design integrity
- Oversee the design team and support problem-solving and issue resolution
- Ensure consistency and accuracy across designs, simulations, and deliverables
- Review and validate deliverables to ensure quality and compliance standards
- Support manufacturing, sourcing, and industrialization during project execution
- Monitor performance (quality, cost, delivery) and escalate risks with mitigation plans
- Contribute to system architecture and certification/validation plans
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s an asset)
- Member of the OIQ
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design of complex assemblies (transport industry an asset)
- Strong knowledge of welded structures and geometric tolerancing
- Experience working in or with manufacturing environments
- Proven leadership and problem-solving skills in a project setting
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent maîtrise du français et de l’anglais, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit

Bilingualism
Proficiency in French and English is required. Knowledge of a third language is considered an asset when working with our international partners, suppliers, colleagues, and customers. In Quebec, French remains the primary working language of our company.
