Join us as Mechanical Calculation Engineer, and you’ll be engaged in a career-defining role by participating to the design and the structural validation of passenger railroad vehicles.

 

 As a structural design team member, you will: 

 

Produce the qualification and validation plan of components in accordance with Technical Specifications, Internal and National Standards.

  • Prepare the specifications for the purchased components and work in cooperation with supply management for the procurement of those parts.
  • Create and verify finite element models of railroad vehicle components.
  • Perform mechanical calculation activities, including stress calculation with linear and non-linear material, deflection and buckling analysis, bolted and welded joint evaluation, fatigue life estimation, modal analysis, frequency response analysis.
  • Provide design guidance while reviewing the components and suggest improvements to optimize functionality, weight and manufacturability based on calculation results.
  • Write mechanical calculation reports according to project schedule.
  • Present and explain the results to the client.
  • Participate to Design Reviews with internal and external customers.
  • Prepare qualification test procedure for components, assist to the testing on site, as well as review the test data and reports.
  • Be involved in different project activities such as gate reviews, risk evaluation, budget estimation, etc.

 

 

We are seeking candidates with the following profile:

 

  • Mechanical Engineering grade, preferably oriented to mechanical component design.  
  • Member of the OIQ, engineer or candidate to the engineering profession (CPE).
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Method with experience in using specialized software such as Hyperwork.
  • Theoretical bases in material strength calculation, and mastery of assembly analysis methodologies. Experience in the transport sector is an asset.
  • Self-driven, structured and organised with hands-on and systematic problem-solving approach.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer).
  • Team player who likes to learn and share new knowledge.
  • Ability to multitask in a matrixial and project-oriented organisation.
  • Functional in French, professional proficiency in English
