Purpose of the job: Within the scope of your authority and under the Group Insurance Director (GID) authority and reporting line, you will act and be responsible to partner with Regional Insurance Managers (RIM), the position must support the RIM to manage and control the policies in North America Projects, Business Units, placing & local Brokers, Carriers and partners to resolve problems, capitalise on opportunity and report on activities – actively advise, assist, support and manage the Group’s and project’ related insurance matters, maintain policies, assist and settle insurance claims/losses, handle invoices… in accordance with our Group’s insurance programs and policies, part of the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) governance.
Note we are looking for French and English speaking candidates.
Key accountabilities:
As an appointed Insurance Expert, you will systematically and actively contribute in establishing a Group Insurance Centre of Excellence at local & group level for insurance matters to meet the team’s strategic objectives and maintain common standards for risk and insurance issues, including:
- Communication: risk awareness, insurable loss control & prevention processes are implemented smoothly with pragmatism and simplicity
- Develop and contribute to maintain good relationships and maintain at local and global level with insurance and risk management practice leaders, brokers/insurers and Experts/Loss Adjusters and stay up to date on insurance market trends and products
- Training initiatives as to the content of risk management and insurance policies
- Liaise and support the GID in global insurance & risk management matters in the communication, coordination, monitoring and implementation of various processes and initiatives – monitor and provide feed-back to HQ on risks affecting the Region and/or the Group
In your role, your daily activities shall encompass:-
- Share/liaise and actively contribute in supporting Insurance Team Members:
- Perform all required daily and specific administrative tasks, support management in the coordination and monitoring of various projects and management reports
- Take part to the renewals : ensure renewal process timelines and critical path with internal stakeholders and external supplier are followed – prepare market submissions including the gathering and analysis of underwriting data – review, track record and follow up of Renewal program documentation, insurance certificates… – organise, execute, monitor and follow-up the Group Premium allocation charges to Entities / BU / Activities / Projects… with Brokers - handling of general invoices in accordance with group insurance programs and policies – obtain information required from finance, P/O process handling & monitoring) – respond to day to day queries from the Groups/Divisions and external service providers
- Perform other specific tasks related to an assigned program and/or Projects
- Run the global monitoring (Brokers & Insurers, Alstom BU and partners)
- Provide support on large and/or complex insurance claims
- Together with the GID / the “Program Leader” / the RIMs: you shall lead the world-wide Insurance value collection process to feed the renewal process with figures & other statistical data as may be required that accurately reflects the reality of the Group’s exposure to risk, including the compilation, analysis and thorough review of underwriting data received from internal stakeholders
- Respond to day to day queries from the Insurance Community members, Groups/Divisions and external service providers
- Comply with compliance standards and follow through on audit improvements
- Support management in the coordination and monitoring of various projects and management report
- Participate and contribute in the various communication forums within the department, group/entities and corporate initiatives
- When required, provide back-up support in the review of contract “indemnity” and “insurance” clauses for businesses, projects & procurement in the light of ALSTOM’s programs & Risk Management.
Educational Requirements
- Graduate university diploma in a relevant field of study for the practice of insurance matters (e.g. Business Administration, finance, law, contract management, etc.)
- Associates with 6 years of record experience in this field within an insurance department of an international industrial company.
Experience
- Experience of around 3-6 with good knowledge of project and contract management.

Prior experience in the insurance industry (with a Broker or Insurance Company or in the insurance department of an industrial company).
