Purpose of the job:

  • Ensure/provide a safe and healthy environment to our people and to our contractors.

  • Minimize impacts on the Environment (environmental footprint of operations & management of historical pollution).

  • Protect Alstom assets and reduce risks of business interruption resulting from fire and natural catastrophes

 

Support Site/Project EHS manager for Environmental topics

  • Cooperate with the internal resources to achieve Environmental objectives.

  • Support the Region Site/Project EHS Managers to perform Environmental Impacts Analysis and to define appropriate measures to control risks.

  • Support the Region Site/Project Managers to prepare, implement and maintain emergency plans.

  • Assist Region Site/Project EHS Managers to coordinate and control activities with respect of Environment, especially where interfaces are involved with other contractors or operation areas.

  • Provide support and advice to site personnel to prevent environmental pollution and minimize environmental impacts of operations

  • Recognize the best practices and the good performance. React to violations to regulations and Alstom Standards.

  • Advise other Site/Project personnel on all aspects of EHS applicable to site activities.

  • Propose action plans to the EHS Manager to identify, assess & control any historical pollution in the Site.

Develop Environment culture in the site

  • Inform, instruct and train employees about the way to prevent pollution and environmental impacts, including reduction of consumption of resources and control of discharges

  • Participate in the implementation of the Region/Site Environmental training programs by providing Environment inductions and ensuring Environment Toolbox meetings are organized.

Develop Site EHS Management System

  • Support the Region Site EHS Managers to develop, deploy and maintain the local procedures and tools related to environment topics and make sure they are aligned with Alstom Standards and international ISO 1400 standard.

  • Support the Region Site EHS Managers to ensure that Alstom Environmental standards and tools (Transport Operational Performance in Environment (TOPE), Transport Key Environmental processes) are deployed at Site level.

EHS Compliance

  • Assist the Region Site EHS Managers to ensure environmental compliance of the site activities to the EHS Plan, guidelines and work instructions.

  • Perform Environmental legal compliance checks

  • Ensure regular update of Transport EHS Liabilities database in line with Alstom requirements

Report, Measure & Review

  • Support the Region EHS Site Managers to capture, report, record, investigate and analyse environmental damages in order to implement corrective and preventive actions. 

  • Support the preparation of quarterly Environmental reports. Can be in charge of feeding EHS reporting system in line with Group reporting requirements and under control by Site/project EHS manager

  • Carry out Environment audits and inspections and report any discrepancy.

 

N.B. If the Site is a Regional Center, the Environment Engineer/Technician scope is both Site & Projects driven from the Regional Center.

 

Performance measurements:  

Environment (Energy, water, waste, Transport Operational Performance in Environment, Volatile Organic Compound)

 

 

Educational Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • University degree in Engineering or Business Degree

  • Environment Qualification recognized by the enforcing authorities in the country of operation (when required).

 

Experience

Mandatory:

  • Professional experience 1 year (can be adjusted depending on the size of the Site).

  • Experience of almost 1 year in Environment

  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Impact Analysis & Auditing

  • Good knowledge and understanding of ISO14001

  • Deep knowledge of local legal Environmental requirements.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in railway is a plus

  • Environmental Auditor

  • ISO 50001 knowledge and understanding
