As a Control Engineer within the Train Control team, you are responsible for the control engineering activities for one or more vehicle functions, from architecture to detailed specifications, interfaces, and principle schematics.
You have developed strong knowledge and skills in systems engineering in the railway or transportation sector. You also possess good understanding of network topologies and communication interfaces (serial, Ethernet, MVB, and others). If this describes you, you are our ideal candidate.
This position, based at our St‑Bruno site on the South Shore of Montreal, is a permanent full‑time role (40 hours/week). You must be able to work in an international, multi‑site, matrixed organization. This is a hybrid work environment – 3 days on site. Occasional travel to other locations (QC, ON, US) should be expected.
Your future role
- Define and implement functional, performance, transversal, and train‑level system requirements
- Define system interfaces and support system integration
- Conduct system verification activities (with a focus on train‑level and TCMS), including design reviews
- Manage system change and configuration processes
- Control design changes, including impact analysis
- Plan and monitor all system‑related activities
- Strictly adhere to established processes, methods, and tools associated with these activities
Your Mission
- Provide technical leadership and drive methodological and proactive change
- Serve as a reference for obligations/constraints related to Train Control
- Meet established quality, productivity, and internal/external customer satisfaction standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects and lessons‑learned (REX) initiatives from previous projects
About You
We value passion and personality just as much as experience. To thrive and reach your goals in this role, the following elements are essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering: automation, automated production, electrical, electrotechnical, or another relevant field
- Understanding of systems engineering processes
- Knowledge of network topologies and communication interfaces (serial, Ethernet, MVB, etc.)
- Knowledge or experience in design and development using model‑based design tools such as Matlab/Simulink, ControlBuild, etc.
- Proficiency with computer tools (Microsoft Suite, ERP‑SAP‑SharePoint)
- Strong command of French and functional proficiency in English
- Membership in the OIQ (asset)
