Could you be the full-time Carbody Structure Engineer in Saint-Bruno we’re looking for?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your structural engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated, innovative, and collaborative teammates.
You'll play a key role in leading and managing carbody (structural) activities within our NAM Services Engineering group, making a significant impact on the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of rail mobility. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams across the business (such as Production, Quality, and Customer Support), conduct technical assessments of wrecked vehicles, and develop structural designs for vehicle repairs or overhauls, among other responsibilities.
You’ll specifically take care of creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings in CATIA v5 and performing structural validations, but also provide technical reports and cost estimates for bids and projects.
We’ll look to you for:

Performing inspections of rail cars involved in accidents to assess damages and structural condition

Creating detailed inspection technical reports and repair assessments

Conducting structural calculations and fatigue analysis

Developing repair designs, including weld repairs and new parts, in compliance with railway standards and regulations

Providing structural validation and supporting production teams and customers
-
Designing and integrating vehicle structural parts for overhaul/modernization projects

Quoting structural activities for bids and projects
-
Participating in design reviews and technical working sessions with internal teams and external customers

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering

Membership in OIQ
-
5+ years of experience in Mechanical Structural Design, with specialization in FEA
-
Knowledge of rail car vehicles (Light rail vehicles, commuters, locomotives)

Experience with EN/AWS welding practices and procedures
-
Proficiency in CATIA v5 (minimum 5000 hours)

Experience with structural analysis/finite element analysis software (e.g., HyperWorks Suites of Software with OptiStruct solver)

Design expertise in welded structures subject to dynamic loading

Familiarity with railway standards such as APTA, FRA, and AAR
-
Knowledge of materials like carbon steel and stainless steel, including surface treatments and selection

Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
-
English proficiency is mandatory; French is an asset
