Could you be the full-time Operations Yard Manager in [LOCATION] we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your operational management expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and collaborative teammates.

You'll make a significant impact by ensuring the safe and efficient movement of locomotives within the depot and overseeing yard operations. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as Pointsmen and Loco Operators), manage shunting operations, and ensure track readiness for traffic movement, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of locomotive reception and despatch arrangements, but also oversee locomotive washing and wheel re-profiling operations.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Overseeing the operations yard and assigning duties to workers, including Pointsmen and Loco Operators

  • Ensuring proper arrangements for locomotive reception and despatch after verifying points are correctly set and locked and the line is clear

  • Ensuring track fitness for safe traffic movement

  • Safe and efficient movement of locomotives within the depot

  • Performing shunting operations safely and efficiently

  • Managing locomotive placement/removal on the underfloor wheel lathe machine for wheel re-profiling

  • Handling locomotive washing through the wash plant

  • Carrying out handing over and taking over of locomotives with mainline drivers

  • Maintaining proper records and reporting abnormalities in locomotives

  • Respecting EHS rules and work-related processes

  • Diploma or Degree in any field from a recognized university (Regular Course)

  • Experience of working in metro depots or railway sidings (preferably 15 years for diploma holders or 10 years for degree holders)

  • Working knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards and systems (preferable)

  • Proficient in English and Hindi languages

  • IT Skills: Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Flexible and adaptable – can embrace new ideas

  • Conscientious – meets proposed deadlines

  • Team player – supports team members
