JOB TITLE: Lead Buyer IT Softwares & Support Services, Based in Saint-Ouen (92, FRANCE)



Reporting to the Global Commodity Manager for IT Softwares & Support Services, the IT Lead Buyer will be in charge of:

  • Softwares
  • Softwares Maintenance
  • Softwares as a Service (SaaS)
  • Application Support Services on Softwares and Professional Services of Software Vendors

The successful candidate will be a key pillar in the structuring of a newly created IT Sourcing organization (2 years old) and key contributor to help increase the maturity of the department.




Key Network & Links

He/she will be the primary contact within Alstom organization for IT global & local vendors with a strong IT footprint in India, and participate to the integration activities of the recently acquired Bombardier Transport division

He/she will have to work closely within Alstom with:

  • IT Department (internal customer) & Métiers, based in Saint-Ouen, France and in Bangalore, India,
  • Transversal commodities global sourcing network,
  • Local sourcing teams spanning 70+ countries around the globe,
  • Central sourcing procurement team based in Saint-Ouen, France
  • Finance/legal/sourcing performance/quality teams etc..
  • Source & coordinate the total spend under his/her scope of responsibility in line with the IT department’s requirements and according to ALSTOM sourcing processes
  • Optimize and decrease Total Cost of Ownership of IT purchases through strategy building contribution, negotiation, and implementation of joint action plans with the IT department
  • Ensure perfect use of company sourcing tools and spend reporting

  • Ensures purchasing execution - quality, cost, planning and delivery performance
    • Develop close network of internal and external stakeholders
    • Support technical specifications production by the IT department
    • Bring innovation in supplier selection phase and support in execution
    • Participate to Make or Buy decision process when relevant
    • Ensure sourcing execution according to company standards and expectations
    • Manage supplier performance
    • Provide accurate and on time reporting
    • Ensure supplier quality assessment in collaboration with the IT department
    • Ensure sourcing administration performance
  • Makes sure that suppliers selected are compliant with Alstom policies
  • Innovate with best practices proposal and leadership on implementation


PROFILE :  To be considered for this role, the candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills experience and attributes:    

  • Educational Degree
    • Master Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
  • Technical & Behavioral Competencies required for the role
    • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
    • Good knowledge of Sourcing levers and processes (cost breakdown,  TCO, …) from specifications to contracting
    • Strong team player with good communication skills.
    • Ability to drive projects across cultures in an international environment.
    • Minimum 3-5 years sourcing experience with an IT background
    • Speaking English and French mandatory.
