Finance Controller 

As a Financial Controller for our Rotterdam site, you will act as the finance representative within a high-performing finance team, overseeing the control framework. You will play a very important role in ensuring that the Rotterdam site operates within budget and meets its financial targets while also providing daily support to the Site Director of Rotterdam and as part of the Rotterdam Site Management Team.
 

Rotterdam is an exciting site and plays a significant role in the Services business for Alstom Netherlands. We handle both long and short-term maintenance of locomotives and other rail vehicles. In this role, you will work on-site, with proximity to operations. Your office view will overlook the railroad, where many of our customers ride their trains to the hinterland or to the port of Rotterdam. Our work has a massive impact on the rail industry and sustainable transportation.

As a Financial Controller, you will have the unique opportunity to be closely connected to our operations. (from parts, maintenance, repairs, supply chain to the final delivery of a product or service). This will give you the opportunity to see the entire cycle of the business.

Your responsibilities will include:
 

• Providing the site director of Rotterdam with quality financial data and analysis and guidance in order to improve overall business performance
• Provide the management team with sound & timely financial information as well as transparent risks & opportunities
• Be a key member of the Rotterdam management team
• Propose appropriate set of KPIs to help the site in monitoring business and promote action plans 
• Approve financial commitments & risks, strategic investments and project reviews
• Ensure adequate internal controls are implemented and maintained within the scope of the site
• Coach the financial team at Rotterdam and its successful development to meet current & future needs at business and group level

About you
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Finance or Accountancy, or a Bachelor’s degree with several years of relevant working experience.
• Fluency in both Dutch and English is essential for this role

Soft skills:

• Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles, along with significant experience in financial management.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to provide proactive solutions to complex financial challenges.
• Is able to adapt and coordinate changes in the organisation from a controlling perspective.
• Is able to optimise complex situations and transactions from an accounting point of view.
• Good knowledge of Business and Financial Indicators.
• Good communication skills needed with the team and with the actors within the matrix organisation.
• Manage conflicts of ideas.
• Ability to Work in an international environment.
