Job Title

Hardware Designer



Deliver the definition of hardware design and corresponding definition of components, by ensuring detailed design and implementation of these components, (boards, packaging, FPGA, …)



Contribute to the elaboration of Hardware (Hw) specification & architecture, in collaboration with the Hw architect

  • Good Knowledge in Magnetics (Transformers, Antennas, Inductors, etc)
  • Good knowledge in Wayside Railway Hardware (desirable)
  • Perform development of Hw components:
    • Perform the detailed specification and design of the Hw components (boards, packaging, LCA …), describing technical choices and providing the evidences of the solution through models, simulation or mock-up.
    • Define the electrical schematics
    • Define the Bill of Materials
    • Define the CAD constraints
    • Select the materials, together with industrialization teams
    • Perform the coding of the LCA
    • Follow the realization of the PCB design (CAD) and definition file
    • Follow the realization of the prototypes and check them
    • Ensure that the design can be manufactured, together with industrialization teams
    • Design and implement the firmware /Software (Sw) necessary for Hw component tests
    • Prepare and perform Hw component tests and verifications of his / her deliverables, prior to the ones formally performed by a dedicated V&V team (depending on Safety Integrity Level and associated Product development organization)
    • Put the Hw workproduct under configuration management according to product Configuration Management Plan
    • Support the environmental qualification tests
    • Support the Hw/ Hw and Hw/Sw integration, together with the Sw designer
  • Sustain the Hw
  • Remain informed of the evolution of technologies through techno watch
  • Through his / her activities, contribute to TIS standardization by reusing existing solutions or by implementing reusable solutions
  • Apply processes and standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement


Educational Requirements

BSc in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or four years of related work experience (plus any additional required experience)



3 years of experience in engineering and product development

Development of product hardware specifications

Experience in railroad/transit signaling market (preferable)



Excellent verbal and written communication

Strong concept of Hardware design concepts

Excellent organizational skills






Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Access)
