Support the engineering discipline across programs and projects, and across all North American sites, ensuring quality target and repeatable performances. Follow-up program/project strategy definition and task execution, delivering as per QCD commitments. Identify, generalize and stabilize best practices, proposing deployment Alstom-wide. Lead continuous team improvement, plan trainings and coach the team, nurture skill growth and capitalization. Stand as reference in your domain, for both your team and your peers.

 

As the Engineering Management Office, you will interact with all team members, so your communication as well as your motivation skills should be excellent. Ultimately, you should lead by being recognized as a domain authority, committed to achievement.

 

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Agree and implement with the department heads and the peer domain leaders the department guidelines (Support needed, improvement targets, KPI focus, etc. …)
  • Develop and maintain Métier / domain competences, coaching the team and growing World Class Engineering Experts
  • Set clear team goals, delegate tasks and set deadlines
  • Provide support to team project/program execution
  • Promote Alstom values across all engineering domains and in all interactions across the business.
  • Continuously motivate, encourage, evaluate and recognize, train and develop a small team of resources, in cooperation with HR, as per approved performance evaluation process and targets
  • Deploy and support improvements of ADM Process, Methods and Tools in Project Engineering team, providing feedback for Process reviews
  • Collect REX from execution and innovation opportunities to feed Reference Library where applicable and share outcomes at department level

  • Footprint
    • Develop Best Cost Center strategies for strategic growth
  • People
    • Ensure and enable relevant and actionable competency assessment tools for engineering employees
    • Manage Leadership Excellence and Development (LEAD) Program and ensure alignment with regional strategies
    • Act as site University Relations Lead, coordinating with Talent Management and local university contacts to increase pathways for Alstom’s presence
    • Promote activities and interactions to grow World Class Engineering (WCE) community in North America
  • Process & Tools
    • Improve and simplify ways of working across engineering discipline
  • Performance
    • Cleanse targeted KPIs and ensure data accuracy
    • Support APSYS implementation for engineering roadmap
    • Develop and define management routines to quickly and accurately monitor engineering performance

Educational Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or scientific subjects
  • English, full proficient use

 

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or scientific topics

Experience:  

Mandatory:

  • Engineering and processes background
  • Experience in project/program execution and management
  • Specific hands-on experience in his own Métier/Domain
  • Experience and understanding in project and program execution
  • Awareness of several Alstom platform

Desirable:

  • Involvement in projects with teams in other Regional and Development Centers
