Reporting to the Product Sourcing Manager, the Commodity Buyer leads the sourcing product activities QCD from the development phase until the serial end of life. The Commodity Buyer manages suppliers QCD performances and support product execution.

 

What are my responsibilities?

Main missions

  • Applies and support Alstom Transport sourcing rules, process & tools.
  • Manage suppliers QCD performances and lead supplier QCD performance reviews.
  • Support product/program execution from a sourcing perspective.

Supplier relationship

  • Preparation and launch of Request for Quotation with suppliers using the standard tool.
  • Negotiation of cost reduction with suppliers.
  • Coordinate all activities related to supplier selection.
  • Inputs provider/contributor for order placement. Fill the ERP with sourcing information. Secure PO placed on time.
  • Ensure QCD targets achievement, CONQ & claims management.
  • Management of initial issues before escalation to manager.

Product execution and profitability

  • Challenge site stakeholders (engineering, supply chain, quality, …) to secure product execution and profitability.
  • Track sourcing performance in product development and issue action plan in case of deviation.
  • Analyze risks and set appropriate mitigation plan.
  • Contribute to Make or Buy scheme. She/he will also contribute to all technical transfer, as resourcing or double source, and business case preparation.
  • Actively participate on industrial continuous improvement.

Operation excellence and Cash focus

  • Support supply chain to secure OTIF objectives.
  • Support quality on NCR treatment and improvement.
  • Support finance and accounting department to fix invoices issue and manage payable days.
  • Help to manage quality of sub-contracted products.
  • Contribute to component end-of-life management and is accountable for information related to last time buy order.

Process and Tools

  • Contribute to audits and ensure that audits are passed without major non-conformities.
  • Support Sourcing maturity improvement dedicated to tools and processes.
  • Respect Alstom Transport code of ethics and guidelines.

 

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • B.S. / B.A.
  • Purchasing School is desirable or Engineering School with sourcing experience following graduation.
  • 2 years experience in industrial environment.
  • Proven and demonstrable ability to successfully manage sourcing issues.
  • Be resilient, committed, and self-starting whilst strongly value the strength of the team.
  • The successful candidate will be someone who has a passion for extending their knowledge and is detail oriented in their everyday working life. Inherent desire to understand complex technologies and solutions.  Able to resolve complex, multi-functional problems
  • A strong communicator with the ability to interact at all levels within internal and external organizations
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Knowledge of SAP
