Industrial Expert with strong knowledge of SAP
Apply now »Date: 24 May 2025
Location: Ridderkerk, NL
Company: Alstom
At Alstom, you will be able to leave your mark on mobility. You will work with us to understand what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry.
We are about to start a new project for the fleet of our customer in Rotterdam and we are therefore looking for a strong and analytical industrial expert .
Are you ready to build a project from the ground up – from concept to execution as our full-time onsite industrial expert with strong knowledge of SAP?
This is your unique chance to make a difference in the execution of an overhaul for the fleet of our customer. A joint team of Alstom and technicians of the customer will work on restoring structural integrity by removing, reusing, and refurbishing parts. This includes both corrosion repair and scheduled maintenance covering aspects like converters, bellows and flooring among others.
Your future role
In your role as an Industrial Expert with strong knowledge of SAP you have to be both sharp in understanding operational flows and people. You'll have a lot of space to use your industrial process engineering expertise in this new to start project. You’ll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates. You will report functionally to the project manager and hierarchically to the industrial manager.
You'll play a pivotal role in optimising logistical flows and ensuring seamless SAP integration, contributing to the success of the overhaul. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with different people across the project and within the company (industrial engineering, mechanics, logistics, parts and repairs in Ridderkerk, and project management). With your skills you’ll be able to elevate the execution of the project.
We’ll look to you for:
- using your extensive SAP experience to mobilise and optimise processes.
- designing and implementing logistical flows to ensure seamless operations (material stream, task lists, service orders, method times, equipment, industrial planning).
- make use of your deep practical knowledge of real-world logistics and industrialisation to troubleshoot and resolve challenges.
- use your strong analytical and questioning skills to support decision-making (e.g., determining priorities like 'What comes first?' or 'What do you need?').
- applying your familiarity with all SAP variants to address diverse operational needs.
- drawing on your background in industrialisation to contribute beyond traditional planning tasks.
- connect the technicians 'on the ground'; e.g. digital work instructions, service execution system, barcode implementing, touch screens, tablets, proper use of time sheets, KPIs such as spent versus planned and work order closure
- where possible: give the shop floor a technology boost; e.g. traceabilitiy, automation, data analysis, digital planning and presentation.
- providing expert-level insights to challenge and guide project directions effectively.
- building trust across teams by offering sound, judgment-based recommendations.
All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill.
Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- experience of SAP systems – you’re operationally excellent with it.
- knowledge of industrial flows and real-world operations.
- a problem-solving mindset.
- familiarity with project management and process improvement in a similar industrial environment.
- ability to develop tailored solutions.
- expertise in work planning with broader capabilities in engineering and logistics.
- exceptional communication and leadership skills to challenge and guide project direction.
- resilience and adaptability to manage complex projects.
- a continuous learning mindset
- regular assessment, defining and implementing actions to improve our performance for e.g. the APSYS roadmap (internal operational excellence system of Alstom) and other programs.
- actively participate in meetings of these excellence programs and participate in the broader local and global network.
- stay in contact with process owners to implement improvements and chase follow-up.
Things you’ll enjoy
Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay. We will have many more upcoming projects after you've finished this particular one.
You’ll also:
- receive a good salary
- in total 40 days off per year
