Purpose of the Job

Capture, structure and analyse structured and unstructured big Data (originated from rolling stock or signalling devices) for the Fleet Support Center. Define rules and predictive algorithms to increase the performance of rolling stock.

Mission

Responsibilities

 

  • Define standard rules to analyse vehicle diagnostic data
  • Collate & structure remote diagnostic data, system downloads and depot reports for service failures and analyse data in order to:
    • identify any failure trends/anomalies and inform Engineering/Reliability Teams of possible improvements
    • identify any minor failures that may require preventative maintenance
    • provide detailed reports of system performance
  • Explore data, find new relationships and patterns, create and implement new data algorithms in order to;
    • Create predictive maintenance models
    • Improve asset life-cycle
    • Increase vehicle availability
    • Automate processes
  • Support Fleet Support Center System Engineer
  • Raise change request to improve diagnostic information collected by the vehicles
  • Participate to critical task-force dedicated to troubleshooting if necessary
  • To report regularly and accurately on the performance of the fleet, for internal use, and to report to the customer.
  • To highlight any anomalies in system performance or component failures as present in the data
  • To provide the System, Maintenance development and Reliability engineers with specific analyses.
  • To assist in providing training on the company’s data reporting tools.
    • To look after the quality of the raw data and report on any inaccuracies or concerns and provide instructions/training on how data is to be recorded and kept
  • Assist the data warehouse activities related to the Fleet Support Center
  • Through his activities, contributes to standardization by reusing existing solutions or by implementing reusable solutions
  • Contributes to continuous improvement (Return of Experience, processes)

 

Candidate Requirements

Educational Requirements

 

  • University degree in mathematics
  • Data science management / Big data business analyst

or

  • Engineering / ICT degree (with additional courses relevant for data analysis)

 

Desired Knowledge / Experience

 

  • At least 3 years of experience in a professional environment
  • Experience in data retrieval, elaboration and analysis

Technical Skills & Competencies

 

Technical Knowledge / Experience

  • Mathematical knowledge & experience; statistics, linear algebra, machine / deep learning
  • Experience with data modelling & algorithm development for prediction and automation
  • Programming skills in SQL, Python or R Studio
  • Experience with at least Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau or equivalent
  • Advanced skills in Excel

  • Detail conscious. Thorough, analytical and meticulous mind-set. Has the ability to consistently produce accurate, factual and detailed information
  • Planning and Organisation skills. Plans to meet department objectives

Optional

  • Knowledge of the railway and ideally of maintenance environments would be an advantage
