The Mechanical Lead Engineer General Studies (M/F) will manage Mechanical Domain resources, activities and deliverables for general studies and mechanical integration in compliance with Quality - Cost - Delay (QCD) commitments. Applying applicable Mechanical Domain instructions, processes and tools.


Your main mission will be as follows :

  • Performing 3D activities, design annotations and 2D deliverables in compliance with QCD commitments, Metier rules and processes for general studies and mechanical integration including manufacturing and cost target, based on a strong experience and knowledge on train architecture
  • Appplying 3D Lean process in order to facilitate and simplify the interface management for all mechanical domains, filling-up attributes for each part in Digital Mock-Up (naming, material, Fire & Smoke, etc.) and verifying consistency of digital mock-up (no clash, etc.) and compliance with requirements (allocated volumes, weight, interfaces, etc…) on assigned scope – good knowledge in data management (DMA2.2, 2.3 – Design – 3D Master)
  • Resolving Project Mechanical issues and following challenging actions for the TDE – Defining Project Mechanical Decomposition (PBS = product breakdown structure)
  • Driving weight balance management with standard tools based on his experience, allocating weight for each mechanical domain et challenging them (risk management) – Supporting industrial department during weighings by knowing industrial means and processes
  • Performing gauge studies based on a strong experience and knowledge on train architecture behaviour on the track
  • Managing production of deliverables (TPS, TRS, technical design book, pictogram…)  in accordance with planning targets and custumer requirements
  • Supplier follow-up during development phase (evaluation, documentation,…)
  • Preparing and documenting Mechanical Domain Design Reviews according to project schedule and following-up the main open actions with the target : On Time Delivery and First Time Right – supporting costing team
  • Integrate internal and external customer constraints and support them during production phase
  • Reporting on Mechanical Domain activities progress and alerting relevant N+1 in case of issue potentially impacting achievement of QCD commitments.


Profil required :

  • Mechanical Engineering preferably applied to Railway products with 2 to 3 years of experience, standards, CATIA V5 et DMA2.3 tool (Tubing, Bend Part, Sheet Metal) and special processes (welding, riveting, gluing,etc…)
  • Good knowledge on geomterical studies (3D, 2D, articulation, trigonometry)
  • Ability to read and understand complex mechanical diagram, to define allocated volumes based on return of experience, to challenge and propose improvments, to design mechanical integration in the vehicles taking into account all constraints (tolerances, accessibility, …)
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer), time management and reporting skill, sense of urgency / priority, structured and organised with Hands-on approach
  • English and German operational in read/writing and technical meeting
