The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Track Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join us at our Randwick maintenance depot, on the Sydney Light Rail project. You will be responsible for providing technical support to the Track Project Manager in maintaining and overhauling the track infrastructure assets (rails, sleepers, ballast,/slab, turnouts) of the Sydney Light Rail.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical solutions to correct track defects. Implement temporary mitigation when necessary
- Investigate noise complaints caused potentially by track defects
- Request creation of necessary engineering references (DTR)
- Prepare risk assessments to support potential Engineering Exceptions
- Provide technical inputs and expected deliverables during preparation of RFQ
- Propose improvement to increase reliability and maintainability of the track assets (design / process)
- Provide the technical inputs for CCB (Change Configuration Board)
- Support in carrying out track walks with the maintenance technicians
- Attend major shutdown on the network, when necessary
- Create / update work instructions, checklist Operation & Maintenance manuals
- Coordinate with other entities (other ALSTOM activities/ civil work partners…) for the technical aspects of the track interfaces and especially with the civil works
- Liaise with suppliers/OEM as well as the Alstom Engineering department
- Track material serial number to ensure up to date spare part list
Key Requirements

- Excellent communication skills
- The ability be a collaborative team player
- Experience in the maintenance of rail infrastructure
- Relevant trade qualification in rail infrastructure
