Could you be the full-time Project Engineering Manager (f/m/d) in Berlin we’re looking for?

Your Future Role

Ernst-Reuter-Platz 6, in the heart of Berlin, is home to Alstom's DACH regional headquarters. Up to 500 colleagues of more than 40 nationalities work here, focusing on project management, business development, and regional strategy, with a special emphasis on rail digitalisation. Our product line Digital & Integrated Systems (D&IS) answers worldwide mobility challenges for passengers and freight transportation through digitalisation. Our D&IS colleagues in Berlin are focussing on upgrading the LZB/PZB systems to the European Train Control System (ETCS). You’ll report to Vincent Blateau and work alongside a dedicated and enthusiastic team.

Germany is preparing the rollout of digital technology for its entire rail network and fleets. 12,000 vehicles are to be upgraded with the state-of-the-art ETCS and ATO technology. As Project Engineering Manager Vehicle Integration, you will define and put in place optimized ways of working for the required rolling stock changes. Indeed, a major part of the project is the upgrade of the vehicle itself to interface with the new digital system. An efficient way of working will be a key part of Alstom success for the Rollout of ETCS and ATO technology in Germany.

We’ll look for you to :

•    Analyse the German fleet and categorize it in clusters
•    For each cluster, define standard interfaces, limiting the amount of work to be done in each project. Use return of experience of past ETCS retrofit projects
•    Build with each external (with sourcing support) or internal rolling stock supplier a standardised way of working, from the tender phase to the end of the warranty.
•    Support rolling stock team in their workload definition, put in place regular reviews with the RS teams.
•    Prepare the standard project work (for ex standard RFQ for ext RS supplier, standard project plans)
•    Support the on-going projects as central contact person for rolling stock interface topics

To be successful in this function, you’ll certainly have to initiate and maintain regular and constructive relationships with numerous internal (Project or Sub-System Manager, Site Engineering Planning Manager, Site Engineering Quality Manager, Complete Engineering Project team, teams on other Alstom sites, etc.) and external (customers, partners, etc.) stakeholders.
